Do you have any logs of engine load? Given the G/s is notably higher on the AFe logs.. I would expect the load to be higher as well... What I am getting at is there may be some power left on the table that a proper retune could pickup.. Higher load = lower timing so a slightly more aggressive tune (higher timing values) might pickup a few whp....

Nice review BTW.

Do you have to remove those tubes located in the bumper for this intake to work? I have noticed some people don't do that and it still works.

It's a pain in the ass removing the front bumper...

If you aren't going to take the time to do it right, then just get a short ram intake. Removing the bumper is not hard at all for a one time change with the aFe. All of that useless clutter in there looks bad. Infact, I know you can do it without removing the bumper because I've already done it with the aFe.

I removed the snorkel without completely removing the front bumper. It just takes some fiddling to get it out.

Every single time you do that, you are risking breaking the bumper cover. Its a risk that needs to be considered.

Oh nice! How hard was that?? I am thinking of taking the bumper off to install the fog lights though.

Just make sure you have a helper. It's a PITA without having someone to hold the bumper cover back.

I couldn't help but notice the A/F ratios on your stock tune with the AFE. With a mixture that rich from 3k-5k RPMs its little wonder that people have been experiencing bogging when driving everyday with many intakes. (Injen does the same thing in that range). This would be greatly exaggerated during normal driving conditions as opposed to WOT conditions. Interesting.

It looks to me that John's tune really smoothed out the A/F ratios in that band of the RPM range which to me would translate into much better drivability as well as flatter WOT torque.

I know dyno's only tell part of the story because not everyone drives around WOT everywhere. How different did your car run for normal driving? I would guess that would be the area of the biggest improvements.

Well at the time that I had the intake on, I was coming off an AIRAID which made my car run like shit, so obviously the AFE felt better lol. I also had Johns tune on it very soon after install. Didn't run around on stock tune much with it. No noticeable bogging for the few miles that I did, though.

I got the snorkel out without taking the bumper off and I did it by myself. It was a major PITA. That's why I don't want to put it back.
