well since that can take months or years..... why dont we just supress the noise?

why do we want to hear these chirps?

Because of many reasons.

A) There's no space for it where the pump is, the "shield" would have to cover a much larger part of the motor, be resistant to high-heat, and be very well engineered.
B) It likely won't do much, even assuming someone takes the time to make it.
C) Since the chirping is not really an issue, spending time and money fixing something that isn't broken seems a little silly.

EDIT:

Why do they bother you? They don't hurt anything and are only audible/present at idle.

the sound hurts my ears. while chilling at lights having a chirping car is embarrassing.

Fixed my chirps 100%. Solution is in my avatar.

Wish you all the best, I hope Toyota comes through with some solution. I've driven other cars and know a handful of people with DI pumps, none of them chirp like the Toybaru does. Sad to say but I'd bet fenrir is correct, probably no fix, at least not a retroactive one for 2013 models. May see something in 2014 or 2015 models.

Yeah, my exhaust will be loud enough soon that I won't hear it anymore. I know there's nothing wrong with it.

I can hear my chirping at lower RPMs, and have had more car since June. It has only gotten worse since then. I am only concerned about the resale value that will be lost from our cars if they fix this in newer models and not this one.

If they eliminate the noise in newer models, you can bet they'll provided the new pump to people with older cars that care.

I HIGHLY doubt this will have any impact on the resale value, though.

Though I can't wait until it warms up here in the northeast I'm definitely not looking forward to the crickets returning.

Just a heads up the fix isn't a fix, numerous accounts of chirping coming back and my car is a VIN after the fix was implemented in the factory and I have developed some chirping in the last month. Just like their window weather seal issues, they are basically rehashing the same parts back onto the cars and they develop the issues again quite quickly.

I hoping when 2014 frs comes out it's fixed and we get "that" pump. otherwise they are just being lazy since it is the MOST common issue with the car and it happens to be a stupid fucking chirp.

My car is chirping quite loudly. Definitely sounds like crickets and I've had it over to the dealership to let the service manager have a listen. He said he'd need to have the car a couple days to diagnose, but I think I'll wait it out until something more solid comes out other than a bandaid fix.
