The CSG BRZ is faster than my CR, and my CR has far, far more development.

This is confirmed at Buttonwillow with the current setup on the BRZ, and I'll be driving it again at SoWS this coming Saturday.

Robispec and Crawford will both be there, so we'll see how three different tuning philosophies turn different (or similar) results on a really tight track.

I will add though... I was very very impressed with a stock BRZ. I liked it more than my stock CR.

Don't want to derail this thread anymore. My vote is the BRZ will be a classic!!!

Please let's not comment about aero. That's a west coast phenomenon. lol j/k

Popular at the track, yes. But a very small % of BRZ/FR-S owners will ever use it at the track.
Superior aero!

I've been seeing about equal numbers of BRZ/FRS at the track as S2ks... and if the BRZ/FRS is as reliable as the s2k, I suspect they'll soon outnumber the S2ks.

Specs and time at Buttonwillow 13CW:

S2k CR 2:02.78 (my car, borrowed coilovers)
Flashpro
255/40/17 RS3 on Advan RGII 17x8.5 +50
-3.5 / -3.6 camber
0 / 5/32" toe-in
7 caster
Tein SRC (custom valved)

vs

CSG BRZ 2:01.41
225/40/17 RS3 on RPF1 17x8 +45
-3 / -2.4 camber
1/16" / 1/16" toe-in
(dont remember caster)
Tein SRC ver 2

Still think the S2k is more fun to drive... it's just more satisfying. Kinda like driving an older Porsche.

the s2k has a hp advantage, but how useable is that extra power vs the brz? do you think the s2k would come out on top on a track with more straights?

I don't know anymore... it would depend on the speed.

We'll find out... I'm curious as to how the BRZ will do at ACS.

While I think the FRS/BRZ is a great platform, I do not believe it will best a similarly prepped s2000 at the bolt on level. Most of the people that gravitated towards the FRS/BRZ as a track car at this point that are running fast times are seasoned veterans. I don't think anyone can argue with that.

I'll be inclined to pick one up once they drop under $10k used.

For those asking for NASA TT/PT weights:

FRS/BRZ - ------D------------2775
00-03 S2--------D** ---------2850
04-09 S2--------C ------------2850
08-09 S2CR -----C**----------2813

Now with more mods than an s2000, I can see one being just as fast if not faster, but with equal mods, I don't think it's going to happen.

Man, imagine what a TTC prepped FRS/BRZ can do... I can already see it running circles around a TTD AP1.

Remember, this is coming from a guy who owns a S2k. I just drive the shop BRZ.

I think a TTC FRS/BRZ would be very competitive. Not in the financial picture for me right now or I'd try it.

I run TTC in my S2k. I'm running on a dyno reclass of 215whp/2770lbs.

If you wanted to Dyno reclass the car to TTC I think it'd be very competitive. Or use your first 20 points towards power, then mod just like the TTC s2ks are. I think it'd be a great combo...but again, more mods, not same mods.

As a benefit the FRS/BRZ can use Camber plates without taking points for mods, whereas the s2k has to use the +2 dive angle/ball joint modification, if not using offset upper control arm mounts

^ Exactly... scary thought. I'll be testing at a low speed track this weekend where power matters more than people would like to think. That'll really drive in if I think one car is faster than the other.
