I wonder if tinting of the taillights make things worse. (Ex. trapping more heat inside the assembly/greenhouse effect?)

I had some condensation beforehand and then we got about 20cm of snow, and with all the freezing and thawing the tail light filled up within a few hours of being in my heated underground parking.

New taillight tuesday. Dealer didn't even question it, they took one look and ordered a replacement.

I quickly read this thread and though YaX suggested not worrying so much about it, I didn't see the question asked: What harm will it cause?

Condensation inside tail lamps is pretty common with many types of cars, and it doesn't seem like enough water will collect to impact the operation/visibility of the lights, so are people worried that the water could warp/damage anything?

My car has occasionally developed some minor condensation, but so far I've not noticed any side effects (though after time it'll probably leave a slight residue).

I'm having this issue as well. In both of my tail lights. Hopefully they replace them with well sealed lights.

Based on the TSB, it's not that the lights aren't sealed, but rather an issue during installation where the nuts are overtightened resulting in a crack in the mounting boss. I pulled mine and there was no apparent cracking, but I still got some slight condensation and fogging in both of my lights. I have not gotten it again since it's gotten colder out, but my dealer put in orders for replacements anyways so I'll let them swap them out and see how it goes.

Am i the only one who noticed a crack on the top of the light towards the inside of the trunk, exactly where the trunk would hit if it over traveled the rubber stoppers?

my right tail light has "internal dampening" and it is cracked where i described, the left has no moisture inside but has a slight scuff at the same location as if the trunk has closed on it...

Please quote in Reply, I will forget to check the thread otherwise...k thanks bye

Double winner here. Driver side 4 weeks ago, then passenger side last week.

I took mine to Toyota today. They called me with the update three hours later telling me that they dried out the lights and I can take the car. So I asked them what I do when it happens again. They said they would need to take photos and send them to Toyota. So I asked why they didn't do that before they dried them out. The guy basically bullshitted me saying that they didn't see any condensation and that there was no reason to warranty the lights. When I went in to pick it up I spoke with the service manager who told me that the only way they can warranty them is if water is actually pooling in the assembly.

Does any of this seem fishy to you guys? I'm wondering why some of you were able to get yours replaced without "pooling" water and I can't.
