I'm not convinced we won't be getting a Convertible version. I work for Toyota/Scion and I have heard many corp. reps talk about the two versions you describe. I ALWAYS knew the Turbo would not be a factory item but would be sold as kits to help keep the cost down. The convertible is another story. High level exec's WANT this car for the States.. to keep the momentum on Scion's comeback. They are discontinuing the xB and xD within the next two years and will be coming out with new product in their place. I am positive that a Convertible FR-S will be seen as an even more important "Halo" car for the brand. So Don't discount the convertible yet.. Plus.. If Subaru gets one.. Scion wil HAVE to in order to compete. Especially since both companies want to maximize their profit to their investment..

lol, yup - for me to buy this car, it either needs to drop $8k off the price (£5k gbp) or add a turbo for $5k (£3k gbp)

for now im happy with my e92 330d and possibly a 335i in a year or so if there isnt a turbo brz/gt86 before then from the factory or trd bolt ons from the dealer with warranty

One fewer on the waitlist

I will drive this bad boy round until I either upgrade to a factory turbo/SC/Whatever of it or upgrade it and enjoy it straight away.

Good on ya for your choice of a Beemer

I would be more surprised if Australia got a Convertible and US didn't.

I wouldn't have either...because it probably would have cost at least 30k...which misses one of the big objectives of this car...

That made me lol..."the art of driving" has taken a back seat to swapping badges, picking out vinyl wrap, getting "hella flush" and pestering the dealerships about such monumental concerns like turning off the DRL's...

Nah, you are too cynical. These are just minor personalization decisions. They are like tattoos, they declare your independent, "rebel" nature while adding nothing of any consequence.

Ha! Nothing says "I'm an individual" by doing what the others are doing to prove their "individuality". Oh the irony!

Nowadays the real rebel thing is to NOT mod your car, or get tattoos.

Are they going to have a front mount intercooler cause there is no room for a top mount intercooler. Surbaru does top mount. Unless this time is different. I remember hearing rumors about Surbaru going to supercharge the BRZ and not using their traditional turbo. tooooo many rumors. I wish they stop with the rumors and give us some hard evidence. I have to see it to believe it.
