Is there any color that doesn't look great on the FRS/BRZ?

Very nice for using the stock cable. I just wish I was good with electionics. I want to run the mute button on top of my steeing column and have a flat wire under the windshield and down the passenger side pillar.

Yeah the mute button would be nice to have easy access to, but I think Escorts will mute if you hit one of the top buttons on the detector itself, won't they? Now I'm second guessing. I usually don't keep mine turned up all the way, maybe 3/4 if I'm listening to music, and the 8500 quiets itself down to 1/4 volume after a few seconds of continuous alert.

Officially a week old in my ownership, 175 miles on the clock, and just a tick under 1/2 tank of the original dealer fill-up. She chirps like a cricket loudly when warm at idle presumably due to the ethanol in the gas around here and/or the harmless issues with the DI fuel pump, but hopefully a TSB will be out soon and revised parts will be available to kill the chirp.

Still loving every moment behind the wheel. I love people's reactions to the car. I saw a guy in an Outback today pass me slowly in the opposite direction in a parking lot with his eyes glued to the car and a smile on his face. I slowed down, gave him a wave and smiled back.

Yes, there is a mute button up top. The left one I believe. I have my mounted higher (next to the rearview mirror) so it's harder to hit the mute button.

It's under the hood in the engine bay, which is probably why you never found it.

I havent spent much time under the hood yet, but I will be soon. So far I have an Apexi drop in filter, plugs for noise gen and both intake resonators, and Perrin light crank pulley waiting to be installed. I want to get some more miles in first.

I wonder if there's a more elegant way to route that wire behind the dash rather than in front?

I looked up under the passenger footwell with a headlamp on and didnt see anything obvious, but I could have easily still missed something.

My Flossy Grip Tape Shorty Heavyweight shift knob with custom engraving arrived today! They gave me a very nice discount for participating in the latest group buy.

This thing is hefty at 500 grams! I love how it shifts with this extra weight on top! It's definitely smoothed out the notchy throws with the stock knob and significantly reduced shifting effort. I'm happy with it! I may get some red paint and fill in the engraving for a little more contrast...

Am I the only one that didn't know about this? I am returning the hardwire kit and getting my money back, as my pics below show how I've installed my RD to my liking! It's not as clean as a hardwire kit that's fished up under the headliner and down the pillars to the fuse panel, but I can still easily unplug and dismount and store it whenever! Glove box closes normally with the way I routed the cord and without bulging out or catching on the cord. Plenty of slack too!
you should check out how i installed mine.

Thanks for the video, that's really helpful! My stock power cord is too bulky and short with the curls, so I know what I need now; just ordered this: http://amzn.com/B006G1PHLY

The direct wire kit wouldn't have worked anyways since the fuse box is in the engine bay....

Looking forward to getting mine installed the right way!!! Thanks again!

ya. you just need to mount the detector at the top of the windshield to hide the cord.

YES! Thank you for finding that part! That's exactly what I was looking for! I just talked to my buddy back home. He's been my install guy for years, definitely the best in the area. He's going to hardwire the detector for me and put a mute button on the steering column. Probably pretty easy, I'm just not comfortable with car electronics and I'd cry if I ruined something in my new baby lol

Off topic but if anyone in Northern Ohio ever needs any work done ( stero installs, alarms, etc) let me know. My friend is very talented.

Thanks again for finding that part ATL BRZ.

Also, where did you get that shift knob. I like the texture. Red paint would really bring out the contrast too! Looking forward to pics if you use red paint.

Make sure you get a shorty so it fits correctly with our reverse gear selector.

A few pics from the Caffeine and Octane show today. What a huge turnout!
Only one other BRZ besides mine, though. We managed to get a couple cool pics of both.

Great pictures, ATL BRZ! And in reply to your 7/31 tip, yes, Chris Wright has my number. I was among those he called when your CBS car became available. So glad to see that it went to someone on the ft86 forum.

And good call on the name "Melanie." It suits her well, and I like the allusion to Melas.

I'm *trying* to wait until I can order a GBS 6MT Premium because after 7 years, the least favorite piece of my '05 Legacy 2.5GT is the auto climate control. It's getting tougher to be patient ... there was a SWP BRZ in Johns Creek on Saturday and I fell in love all over again.
