Finally finished the power brake install on my friends 63' Mercury. Nothing fit, even pieces that were supposed to be bolt on didn't fit. Had to cut the existing strut tower bracing out as it wouldn't clear the new master cylinder and brake booster, which I knew about ahead of time. Added new strut tower that was on the export version of the Falcon that clears. Booster didn't fit in the master cylinder hole, was about 1/16th too large, steering column brace straddled the hole for the master cylinder that also needed clearanced. Push rod from booster to pedal didn't fit right. Built new brake lines and had to address many other fit issues. What I estimated to be 4-6 hour install ended up being around 16 hours. To top it off, doesn't work that great, really needs a dedicated vacuum pump.

Visiting with my grandfather for his 94th birthday this week. Stories include, his sister buying him a rifle for Christmas when he was 14 much to his mother's chagrin, and the time he outran the cops in his brother-in-law's 1938(?) Buick Century. Still have the rifle, not so much the car.

I've been notified my attendance is required for a nephew's wedding over in Middlefield ID on Oct 7.
I'll probably be poking around the area for a few days.

Apparently this one had spare wheels on the front fenders. Because classy. It's what my grandfather got his driver's license in too lol.

Glad you're getting some of those stories.

Unfortunately I never really got any from one grandfather, and the other he kinda just never had stories, or he didn't want to share the ones from the Holocaust/WWII by the time I was old enough, which I understood but still would've liked to.

And then inside the store we crossed paths a couple times and I kept struggling to figure out something to say/make a move so I ended up just leaving!

Sometimes stuff like this is a confidence problem but honestly this time it felt more like I just didn't know wtf to say. So in the indecisiveness I gave up.

I thought I learned you better!

If she looked over 18, ask her out to dinner. If she is younger than 18, just thank her for holding the door open for you and move on.
