@Tcoat, pretty much what I was thinking on the "self fix". Thanks for taking the time to dig up the warranty.
As far as off roading, yea not surprise there. You'll notice in the commercial it even looked like it was "off-roading" on a gravel trail. Of course, just dropping it in by helicopter was probably enough to void the warranty.

Let's say I want my dealer to perform the oil pan sealant check. Let's also assume I have to pay out of pocket for this (chalk it up to preventative maintenance). Mine is on order, so I'd rather tackle this before any real miles are put on the car.
Ballpark, how much time + cost of parts + cost of labor = total $$$ does this effort entail? |

2.5 hours in labor + around $100 in parts and shop supplies.

surface prep surface prep.... There is no substitute for the factory-prepped virgin mating surfaces before filling with oil. If being re-sealed, great care must be taken, not only to remove all the old stuff. The surfaces above must also be cleaned enough to ensure no oil weeps down to contaminate the joint before it is fully cured. The devil is very much in the details. Personally, I wouldn't consider doing this job with the engine in place. I would only do it with the engine inverted on a stand, but that's just me.

Since there is no real solution at this time, scoping doesn’t really accomplish anything either. I guess increase anxiety if you’re in to that.
I’m not sure why people want a recall to be issued as history has shown human intervention is not a solution to this type of problem. For us, a recall accomplishes nothing beyond admittance of guilt. If you really want to take action your best bet will be a third party gasket which to my knowledge doesn’t exist yet or cracking the pan and resealing by hand yourself. Both will likely void warranty. Otherwise sit tight, enjoy your car, and cross your fingers that your engine is unaffected or that it blows within warranty. |

If it is on a Subaru BRZ and not a GR86 it counts...

id wanna see how the rest of the bearings looked. if this RTV blockage at the oil pickup is the reason for the spun bearing, there should be signs of damage to the other bearings as well. if the other bearings are fine and only one bearing had a failure, then you cant blame the RTV for that, as the RTV in the pickup is affecting the entire system, not one bearing |

He gets his car back and it combusts and is engulfed into flames the same day? yea... no. there's some foul play going on somewhere. cars that had a new motor put in due to warranty get tested vigorously before being given back to a customer. i dont know why it caught fire, but the only time ive seen a car engulf in flames like that is a fuel leak. a fuel leak would have been noticed when the car was being checked for leaks after the swap. any high pressure fuel line would have popped off immediately if it was loose. fuel lines are usually either fully seated or dripping fuel.. Yea the techs are his dealer were making fun of the car and making tiktok or whatever the hell they did, but this isnt an issue with the tech then to top it off, apparently he DMed toyotaUSA on instagram, deleted his DM, then when toyotaUSA commented and asked him to get in contact, he proceeded to be a complete **** and say something along the lines of "if you want to get in contact with me, you can DM me" either way his car is completely unrelated to the rtv issue |
