Hi Guys,

My car will be the first officially EcuTek tuned 86 in Australia. It's going into the shop on the 7th of Aug. It will be baselined on the dyno and then tuned (on the dyno). I will post up results and hopefully a few pics or vids in action. They don't like ppl being there when the dyno is running so might not be possible.

Let me know if you have any questions about the EcuTek, especially Aus specific ones and I'll do my best to get answers.

What I'm really looking forward to is seeing what the car will make with air filter, exhaust and tune.

what is the cost? And have they indicated what subsequent retunes will cost?

Initially the tune will be done on the standard intake and exhaust.

In the next week or two I should have a full (86Drift) exhaust including headers. I haven't decided on air filter brand yet, but I'll be keeping the factory air box.
I'll post all the details on the exhaust in a different thread.

When the new exhaust is done I'll dyno it with standard maps vs Stage 1 tune to see the difference. Then if need be, I'll get it re-tuned (Stage 2).

Nice, I like the sound of locally made headers that work well

have you seen the nameless performance ones? They look quite good. If you can get similar results i'd be very intersted

Go to another dyno , thats a load of baloney.

Would be great to see it on a Mainline Dynolog not like the higher reading single drum dyno's

not doing anything to my beast when I get it until the warranty runs out. Then who knows? Might be a family man by then and have to limit my spend on toys

How about you give us more details about these " Ecuwrecked" cars?

Were the 86's? are they using the current ecutek software?

I have to agree with you on this, with all due respect to ECUTEK.

Sometimes its best to invest in a stand alone from the very beginning as your plans will keep changing and the stock ECU will not be the best option. Some people end up spending a shit load more than they planned on.

Flash plus a basic tune is going to be $1k from the sounds of it, looking at the US guys? can some one confrim this is AUS ?

Please do not post about whether you like EcuTek or not. If you want to do that create another thread.

If you do have questions about what the available options are then go right ahead. Is no one interested about launch control, will my dealer know if it's tuned or if you can tune if for the soon to be available turbo/supercharging kits?

If so, would that cause issues at your dealer when they plug in the scan tool?

How it works it that the EcuTek software downloads updated fuel and ignition maps (as well as other stuff) to your ECU's ROM. This is effectively the 'tune'.
The tune can only be modified by an EcuTek authorised tuner. You can buy an EcuTek cable (when you get the tune) to flash the standard tune back on or reinstall the new tune.
It doesn't stop other software/tuners flashing the ECU, so it's not locked in that way. It doesn't let you tune it yourself, if that's what you mean by locked.

When the dealer plugs in their scan tool they cannot see you have the EcuTek tune installed. If you are really worried then buy the EcuTek cable and flash the standard tune on when you take it to the dealer.

It's a long thread but I think answers to the questions posted here plus more is covered: EcuTek preparing to release PRO ECU software for BRZ

(BTW, I won't be doing anything other than enjoying stock tune/suspension/tyres for at least the warranty period and most likely beyond, so that link is the most I'm going to be able to provide.)

Dude you are selling false info (Sorry to be harsh) Dealers can see that the ECU has been touched via check sums!

Then can and will notice that the ECU has been touched/modified. Even if you rollback to a standard tune before you return to the dealer.
