It was forever off my list because it lacked a manual, but it is a great car. Wish they made the Quadrifoglio in manual. I would have been hunting the used car ads forever until it would have been mine.

I was the same way about the QV until I test drove one. Now I've grown rather attached to being able to shift with the paddles when I have an open road, but throw it back into auto (and use adaptive cruise) when stuck behind some yutz who gains 10 mph downhill and loses 15 uphill.

My last three cars were manual and when I got the 4C, I wondered if I made a mistake... but the car has so much sensory overload that a manual would make it a handful when driven hard. Even with a zero toe alignment and suspension tweaks to eliminate the darty tramline-y caster from the factory, the manual steering rack is constantly keeping you engaged -- You need both hands on the wheel. A Lotus Elige doesn't do this for some reason and pairs beautifully with a manual. Going manual would also be much slower and not achieve the 0-60 numbers (4.1 stock / mine is sub-4s) because the TCT holds the boost between shifts with the aggressive short gearing. The way the boost comes on feels old-school supercar too, there's nothing and all the sudden the surge happens. Auto mode with the TCT in slow / stop-and-go traffic is worse than a kid learning manual for the first time. This dry double clutch transmission is no PDK, that's for sure, but perfectly matches how imperfect the 4C is. All part of the charm.

I've spent a total of $162 on parts to fix issues outside of routine items (tires, alignments, oil changes). Honestly the car is mechanically simple and easy to DIY (body panels come off like a race car, engine components easy to access). The only questionable part / weakest link is the transmission. Cheaper to insure than my BRZ, and if I behave, I get better MPG than my Honda Fit. Everyone should drive a 4C at least once. My Risotto Rocket. 🍿 + 🔥
