James,

Definitely would have been better start a new thread. No one's going to go into this thread to look for tt5 optimization information.

That said, ducting and careful brake management is probably going to be your best strategy. You're braking g's are limited by traction not anything in the brake system itself.

I'll let 949 comment more on this, but this general isn't the case. The technical reason for a big brake kit is to increase the useful mass in order to aid in thermal management. There's many other benefits (like 949 mentioned) like decreasing sprung weight, and decreasing consumable cost with 2 piece rotors etc.

But from a physics standpoint, increasing rotor/pad size with all else being equal doesn't necessarily increase total braking torque.

If you can lock up the tires (engage ABS) with your current brakes then the limit of your braking ability is not the brakes it is the tires.

If you will be there, Sonny will start giving rides probably 3rd session. First two sessions are solo, go time for the TT and dialing in the setup.

Yes, as mentioned a few times above
That photo shows a good amount of droop in front, comparable to stock I'd say. What ride height would this be adjusted for compared to stock?

We have been running about 140mm front pinch weld height with 5mm positive rake on 255/40/17. Pinch weld height changes a bit with taller than OEM tires.

New Chuckwalla CCW 86 N/A Record

Here's the 86 N/A record 1:59.311 Chuckwalla CCW lap set on Sunday morning. Hard to believe a 1:58.9 is possible, but I'm still happy with my driving and confidence the 949 Racing XIDA coilovers gave me on Blub.

Just the way the rear end is so stable that I can throttle steer to change the car's attitude at will on every long double apex corner. Also, the entry speed is just almost too fast, but front end stability under trail braking allows.

No updates at this time. Working on some minor tweaks to strut flange geometry and end link mounts. Everything else is sorted and ready for production.

The end link mount on the strut could be moved a tiny bit outward to clear the frame rail on cars with high - camber (adjusted using camber plates) and lower ride height settings. Most just deal with it and try to find the lowest profile end link they can find. If that is one of the things you are addressing, you'll probably be the first and only company to do this.

New front aero. In attempt to reduce weight on the nose and increase aerodynamic surface area, we put the OEM front bumper skin back on and grafted an Ikon Motorsport (ebay) urethane lip for a BRZ. It sorta fits but is close enough to be secure. We noticed how flexy it was so we road tested it before we took it to the track. Hung out the window of our minivan at 85mph while we took pics of the lip ob Blub. Sure enough, it was oscillating heavily. So we added a 1/8" sheet of alumalite underneath the lip itself to stiffen it. Only took about an 8" strip to make it solid.

At Buttonwillow 86 Cup event last weekend, Sonny reports that it definitely made a bit more downforce in front than the APR bumper. We were able to crank the ducktail to max angle and achieve excellent aero balance. Combine with a slight change in rake by raising the rear ride height two turns, we got that much sought after neutral balance at both low speed (no aero) and high speed, (aero). Cotton Corners (55-60mph) and Riverside (103mph). Good enough for a new N/A and Mod class record of 1:56.33 on 13CW

Even with the bit of alumalite, this spoiler set up weighs less than the APR bumper. Unfortunately, Sonny had an off and tore the thing off in the next session. $80 on ebay and about $20 worth of alumalite. Gotta love cheap speed. We decided to work with Renderos Racing to make a more refined version in FRP that he can sell. Look for that in the coming months.

Short summary of Blub's handling from Buttonwillow on Saturday:

I can use all 200whp and and have the full throttle commitment almost everywhere where it matters, specifically from exit of Cotton Corners to Bus Stop, then Bus Stop to Phil Hill. That is where slow speed and high speed grip/balance is confidence inspiring.

And in the rain on Sunday:

The front suspension/tires are eager to turn in on entry and transitions (Cotton Corners), and rewards you for using slow, smooth brake and steering inputs. I played around with more aggressive (quicker) inputs, and the tires/suspension will let you know when they are sliding/scrubbing, very communicative in the steering wheel (easy to feel).

Rear end of the car rotates nicely on command, but only if the weight transfer under trailbraking was done correctly. Even then, you can correct understeer with on-command oversteer and still not over rotate while compensating. Lastly, if you decided to let the car oversteer (for the fun :P), rotation is slow enough for most to learn on for car control clinics.

This is an excellent question for a new thread about your project car. Go ahead and start to that new thread and post a link here.
