First time autocrossing the BRZ- Sheriff's Track

The first time taking this car out to the autocross was great. The show was run by the Porsche Club in OKC, and they get to use the Sheriff's training grounds for their autocrosses. I find it a lot more fun than the typical parking lot, so if anyone's in the area they should check it out.

I could talk about the car's amazing handling, but I'm sure you all know about that by now.

Frustrating moment of the day- My goal was to crack 80 seconds on the course and my fastest time was 80.07!! So close....

The fastest time of the day was a modified Nissan GTR with a 76.5, so ~4 slower with my stock BRZ isn't too much to complain about haha. A 996 911 Turbo, another GTR, and a 700 hp Cobra with slicks were all tied around 77 as well.

If anyone has any tips/feedback/constructive criticism about my driving please let me know! This was my first time driving a manual car at an autocross btw.

Update: Here's some pictures from the event. I included my before and after mpg just for fun.

I tried to watch the video but stopped it. There is a huge smug on the lens. Please clean that off for your next autocross.

Yeah I borrowed a friend's GoPro and had no idea there was a smudge. We'll fix it next time. The video is still perfectly watchable if you're not a princess about it.

You wanted help but you can't tell if your attacking the back side of the cones in some places due to the smuge it gets all blurry at important times. Being honest. I'll try watching it agian at work on a monitor rather then my phone and see if It makes a difference.

Nubbster, great job for your first time auto crossing a mt. Love the video, love that course. I wish I lived close. The autocross I've been to you can maybe top out at like 60mph for a few seconds. This looked like there were a few places where you could hit triple digits in a faster car... Maybe the video was misleading; but I appreciate it. I would love to see more videos, especially one from the outside of you going around the track.

You're right, especially at the beginning of the course it seems like some cones just appear out of nowhere. I think it didn't bother me as much because I still have a mental image of where all the cones are supposed to be haha

Thanks man! I think the faster cars were hitting 80 or so in that back section. I got up to 3rd gear and maybe 70ish- but I didn't have to slow down as much for that fast kink as the bigger GTRs and Cobras. I'd like to see some outside vids as well but the best I got is a brief clip from my buddies iphone haha.

Nice course! It is kind of a cross between autox and a road course. I would love to try that. Do the require open cars to have roll bars to run it like the do on most road courses?

Yeah i love going out there instead of the usual parking lot. You get a bit more speed and a bit of banking on some of the turns too. Umm I can only remember seeing one open car before and it had roll bars... so I would assume so?
