I quite like the tiny handouts and teases… it sure makes for a better build-up. Also, were people thinking this thing would be tuned in a matter of minutes, or an hour or something?

For whoever wants the full enchilada: check back Monday.

Kit looks pretty robust and well thought out. Here's hoping for the best Don.

I had a couple of thoughts... it's very nice that this kit requires no cutting BUT if someone weren't to mind doing so how does this sound?

-Replace battery with small, lightweight version and relocate either somewhere else in the engine bay or to the trunk.
-Flip the filter over to the stock battery position and house it in a custom airbox to protect from the heat of the engine bay.
-Remove the passenger side 86 emblem on the fender and cut a port to the airbox.
-Replace with louvered type scoop (not huge) facing forward feeding directly into the airbox.

I'm no expert but it seems to me like the turbo would be far more efficient if the air being fed to the compressor was cooler and denser. Seems like this would lead to reaching desired boost quicker (possibly not noticably) and reducing air temps post-compressor due to lower start temp....

Does that seem like sound theory? What are folks' thoughts on this?

Scoop would be something along these lines but obviously facing forward as the goal is not to expel are but to gather it and obviously designed to look decent in that position on the car.

The closed airbox and battery relocate is a good plan, even feeding it with fender or other sourced cold air but there's really no need for ram scoops etc on a FI engine.

Great idea about the location of the filter but really why is it so important for "cold air" to be taken into the turbo. It is getting cooled for density and all by the intercooler after it is heated from the turbo anyway.

The airbox was my initial thought. I then connected that to the vent idea as opposed to just sucking engine bay air into the box. Seemed to me like it would defeat the purpose.

The temperature increase from compressing air is somewhat exponential. PV-nRT is basic physics. If you compress 100* air and it becomes 120*, compressing air at 110* could end up being 135*. How is the intercooler going to cope with the extra 15* of heat?

The density of the air going into the turbo has a large impact on the efficiency of the system. You will never be able to cool the air enough with the intercooler to make up for the lost density, because no intercooler is 100% efficient.

This was the inspiration for my train of thought.

Good idea, I think a heat shield would good enough. Air box is a over kill and cost $$$

Nothing wrong with starting with cooler air from outside the engine bay rather than in it. Every little bit counts. A heat shield compartment would be ideal rather than a full box. I would rather have an air duct in the hood right there.

Where the foglights are, how about opening an air vent in there to force feed into an enclosed box
