Exhaust Leak?

I just recently installed tomei uel headers on my brz. I have check every connection and still feel like I have a exhaust leak. I took my car to a friend that works at Subaru and we put it on the lift. we sprayed the connection with soapy water and couldn't find a thing. One thing that still has me thinking I have a exhaust leak is that my cold starts aren't really that loud? I am running tomei uel headers, Invidia catless unresonated front pipe, and Invidia n1. witch this set up shouldn't my cold starts be stupid loud? I mean when I drive its loud but my cold starts aren't. could this mean I have a leak somewhere?

Why do you feel you have an exhaust leak? Do you have a video?

Do you have a tune? My Delicious tune has the loud cold start tuned out. I believe OFT does that too, but I've never personally used them. That could explain the not-so-loud cold starts.

Perhaps it wasn't actually a cold start? What were your RPMs after start? If your weather is anything like the 90 degree days we've had in Chicago this week, it may not have been a true cold start.

our wweather here in SC has been around 80 to high 80's. I always figured all cold starts should be loud no matter what bc the pipes are cold. Since its pretty hot weather could that be why my cold starts arent that loud? my rpms sit at like 1.5k-1k area.

It could be that the aftermarket header just sounds louder, because most are made of thinner material that the stock header ……..

Like mentioned, and I'll guess, that the tune has quieted down the cold start sounds.

When you rev do you hear an exhaust leak? It's a very distinctive sound. Just because your cold starts aren't loud doesn't mean there's a leak. Like others have said it might just be your tune or the temperature.

I have a oft, running older maps, probably v2, and it didn't disable my cold start. The loud noise is from timing adjustments, not cold pipes.

I'm thinking maybe your N1 already gave you all the volume you're going to get?

Oh and when I put on my headers, I had an exhaust leak. Small one, couldn't hear it, but I'd smell exhaust at stop lights. It also caused really rough starting on the ots stage 2 e85 tune

If you're running OFT V4 tunes, they all have cold start disabled, that's why your car isn't loud at startup anymore. The coldstart is there simply to heat up the cats faster, with no cats, there's no need. So it's disabled.

March according to the thread in the Software tuning section. I think they're still considered "Beta" tunes though, so you'll need to download them from the site and then upload them to the OFT manually
