$17k MSRP. Ordering from HKS distributor means no fees, no shipping, no import taxes.

HKS Master Seller or Pro Dealer cost is usually somewhere around 30-40% off that.

If they choose to use their annual marketing allowance on it, the engine will probably be around $5000 or less depending on cost and the marketing allowance provided by HKS.

The MSRP is high but so is everything else MSRP-wise out of Japan. This is nothing new.

No where near $5k
If they are supplying the Subaru case halves thats $1100
Plus stroker kit $3200
Plus Sleeves $800
Then all the machining labor and assembly $2000 ish
Then still need to ship it around the world.

I mean if they want to make minimal profit $7100 cost to a Master seller then they have to mark it up with around a 40 point margin which is around $11,000 add another 20 points of margin to dealer $14000 and 20 points to MSRP

My HKS Crank by itself was $2000

I never said the final price needed to result in a profit from a cost perspective.

My numbers are based on actual HKS dealer discounts + Master Seller/Pro Dealer marketing allowance.

If we chose to use our allowance on this engine, our cost would be around $8000. Other Pro Dealers have higher allowance for marketing.
