The updated fins make the wing comically large compared to the original design

I like the new wing a lot more. The newer end plates give it more purpose and authority. They also look a lot more functional than the tiny ones on the original.

Yes, the newer end plates are a bit more functional. New S208 in Japan will have a similar wing ...

When it comes to wings on street cars, it's going to look comical no matter what.

At least this should make it a little easier for the BRZ guys to get the infamous tS badge. Wasnt that thing next to impossible obtain?

Depends. They may still keep it vin locked to buy one or it would cost an arm and a leg to deter people from buying it, similar to what they do with parts off of other special edition cars

Five minutes on eBay and you can have whatever badge you want. May not be real but you could have one.

The VIN locked stuff in the States is relatively easy to cop, just expensive. The tS badge from Japan on the otherhand seemed like it was made of unobtainium.

The replicas are obviously fake. Not even worth spending the money on them IMO.

In a world of stick on vents, home made "canards" and carbon fibre look wraps there are many that don't care how fake they look. There are also some very good fakes though.

New ones yes. Used ones are starting to pop up much more frequently now that more and more tS cars in general are getting crashed in japan. And now that the replicas are also popping up in Japan, prices on auction are much cheaper

Sure, but there is also a group that is willing to pay a premium for authentic stuff. I'm in the group. I don't really see the point in slapping cheap knockoff stuff on a car that I spent 28k on.

Ahhh but even sticking an authentic badge on a car that is not what the badge represents is no better that sticking on a cheap one. It still isn't what the badge says no matter how close you made it seem.

The cool thing to do is to buy the real car and then take the badges off anyway.

Clearly I should buy some fancy edition, sell my badges, and drive the car for free!

It's a 2750 lb car with 205 hp. It doesn't need anything wider.
