What is everyone doing with their swapped cars diff.

I have been driving my swapped car for 2 years not knowing the reliability of the OEM diff., and wanted to just leave it in case it broke, well I just up graded to Whiteline bushings Kit KDT 925, and also bought the 924 which is even more rigid for a later install....maybe for the OEM engine car the difference after the kit is installed at 196 ftlbs of torque is minimal but for ours its a huge difference, wish I installed this a long time ago......I highly recommend it .....as faf as differential improvements what has everyone swapped doing?

The diff in my car is stock I put in the Parts By Max solid diff and riser bushing kit. The front two bushings are solid aluminium and the back two were replaced with weld in steel plates provided in the kit. I also have the solid rear subframe riser bushings from PBM. You can hear the gear whine being transferred into the structure of the car. Later I think I will go with a Ford 8.8 if I break the stock unit.

I have nothing done to the rear diff. leaving it alone. Seeing how long it will last.

I like that we have stock, firmer than stock, and solid mounts. We will all be able to see how each one does over time.

I went with a Nissan r230 rear diff. They seem to be pretty bullet proof. I’ve also got a Quaife upgraded LSD in there as well with DSS Pro axles.

My diff is solid mounted to the subframe but the subframe is mounted to the car with the oem bushings. I have a set of whiteline bushings for it, but it takes quite some time to get the bushings out of the crossmember so I haven’t bothered with them yet.

OE diff is the same unit that was in the Mk4 Supra with the exception of a gearing change.

Should be pretty damn bulletproof already.

I have the full blown 8.8, white line bushings and some other bushings ready to go in.

Diff parts are interchangeable with the MK3 Supra. While there are some 200mm ring diffs in MK4's usually when someone refers to a MK4 diff its the big boy 220mm.

These diffs are pretty impressively durable for what it is. From what I have seen, failures come from misalignment due to sloppy mounts. The the factory crush sleeve on the pinion will deform and it all grenades from there. The BRZ also has much smaller pinion bearings then what came in the Supra.

I've been running a completely stock diff, launching on a trans brake with a 2jz/th400 since I did my swap. Just recently installed a stock frs diff with stock torsen lsd, mk3 Supra pinion bearings, solid pinion spacer and Toyota 3.58 gearset. Only problem I ever had were with axles. Sheared both dss 600hp units in half on a launch. No issues with the dss pro kit

Building the back half of the car, I pulled out the stock unit and installed SPL solid bushings in the subframe and all the SPL arms, the 8.8 is ready to mount up Monday.



Anyone need a 750 mile 2017 Brz 4.30 diff, axles and drive shaft?

Can you show us more pics of the 8.8 diff installed? I have one sitting in my garage and would like more pics of what full blown did with their setup. I was trying to just get the back cover from them but they dont want to part the kit out... probably cause it would make it almost bolt in for us DIY'ers

I'd say I'd take the diff, but I don't even want to guess at how bad shipping would be up to Canada.
