You actually dont. This works like your transmission and rear axle. you can never take 100% of the oil/fluid out. That is why manufacturers set intervals for changing the fluids, as they average the times you have changed them with how much you can physically take out. So if you can only take 33.33% per change of fluid, the manual would say change it every 10k miles, and to the manufacturer this would mean that by the third time you change the fluid, or in 30k miles, you would have basically changed 100% of your fluid.

This works exactly like that with this radiator, you will always have oil left inside the lines and radiator, but everytime you change the oil, you will probably get liek 70% of it out, so every time you do 2 oil changes, you are basically changing more than 100% of the engine oil.

hope this helps

Actually you never change all the original oil, at least on the elemental level. Essentially you just keep deluting down the original batch with each new batch leaving a layer of residual oil that gets progressively worse/darker until some theshold or equilibrium is reached. After the second change you have not changed 100% of the first batch, and definitely not greater than 100% because that is impossible.

We'll be posting a write-up and pics soon on an Edelbrock kit. Thanks!
well, after 8 months installed. The hose busted, and the oil leak was bad.
It was installed by a reputable installer and the kink was really minimized. I believe installer even called JR to ask about the hose kinking issue. The soft bend area broke. I guess the rubber inside just get hardening overtime and break at some point. So even a soft bend is not safe.
Hope Jackson Racing can solve this issue.

In my opinion braided steel lines is the way to go.

I had similar failure using the same lines. Hope Jackson Racing offers braided steel lines as an option for this kit.

I went to install this kit a year ago and found the lines to be unacceptable. The shorter line had a kink regardless of how it was installed. Line failures like the one shown above aren't surprising.

Just built my own lines using Earl's ultra pro nylon braided hose and fittings. Hoses are PTFE lined and have a 2 inch bend radius so they can tolerate tight bends without folding or losing shape. The dual radiator should have came from the factory with these lines...

Two hoses are compared below, bent the same amount.

Agreed. Coming off track with coolant temps right at 200* F (highway stays around 190*). Those hoses look nice though. Kinda feeling the need to switch to those before problems come up.

A few questions

1) is the radiator deeper than stock to the engine area? (read: will it fit JDL EL catted longtube header?)
2) any disadvantages or concerns for daily use? I am thinking of this piece as another step from Forester water/oil cooler. I live from -30 °C to +30 °C, daily, spirited, and 20 mins max. occasional track sprints. Also if this warm up the oil even faster than Forester cooler, than great. I don't want dedicated air-oil cooler because of winter hassle
3) any chance JacksonRacing will reconsider and provide better quality hoses as mentioned above?
4) can you see the JacksronRacing logo from the front of the car? If so, can it be removed or somewhat erased? Nothing about the brand, just OEM stealth look for me.
Thanks

Is there any way to drain the oil from this cooler during oil change?

How does the oil cool? Does the coolant veins go into the side of the radiator with the oil chamber or does the chamber on the side just have the side of the radiator to come into contact with it. Is there a cross section pic to better understand what is going on?

Damn...was just about to pull the trigger on this kit, seems like the perfect compliment to my Edelbrock S/C.

Now I'm afraid the line is going to bust, lose oil and destroy my motor....

Does anyone know if this is an improvement over the Forester XT cooler mod with a larger radiator?

I have this set up and it works great. But I would be lying if I said it wasn't a pain in the ass to get the lines to fit without any kinks.
