OP do you realize that this car had already been on the market? It's just a rebadged pontiac g8. I sense a very strong bias coming from you.

Uhhh...yeah, Holden is GM. Has been since the 1930s.
Also, there was more to the "SS" name than Camaros and Chevelles. The Impala SS and Nova SS were awesome cars back in the day (early to mid 60s). And yes, it's going to be similar to the Pontiac G8, which was a really nice larger car and perhaps one of the best Pontiacs ever. But the real news is the next-generation Commodore which will be coming along in a few years. That is going to be significantly lighter and more sporty. That will be the car to make a difference. -Jim

Im pretty sure the Colbalt SS 08+ would spank the twins on any course even though they were fwd they only weighed 2900 pounds and were monster performers...actually the best FWD track performer besides the Renault Trophy...

That's it? "SS". That's the name? Real original, Chevrolet. Why would they name their car after a trim level??
I'm glad Chevy will be introducing a RWD sedan; it should've happened years ago! The Impala and Monte Carlo were eventually supposed to become RWD again, but they just said "f*** it" and put big V8's in the FWD cars instead. So lame! Now, if Chevrolet were to bring back the Kappa platform (a la Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky) and offer an actual MX-5/FR-S/BRZ competitor, THAT would be worth comparing!! I quite liked the Solstice GXP and so did a lot of people... go figure, GM makes a good sports car and then tanks shortly thereafter... ![]()

Chevy wants to be heavy....the Colbalt SS was a tuperware on wheels....GM managed to put a monster chassis and drivetrain under it all at 2900 pounds very unlikely they will make anything lightweight again.....

I think people will throw anything under the sun at the BRZ/FRS because they are turning out to be as great as everyone expects. 17/27 is going to be 12/21 in the real world if you want to have any fun. I really liked the G8 for what it was, and I thought it looked great too, but this thing....ugh. I don't care what it has under the hood and how many football players fit in the back seat. Do not want.

Isn't this just what they decided to do with the Pontiac G8 now that Pontiac went under? I thought that was also based on the Holden Commodore. They are hyping it up like it's an all new model but it's really just the next generation of the G8.

None of my friends seemed to care about it, but I always liked it coming from a GM background. It was the only GM car I wanted considering they didn't even have a Camaro at the time. Keiichi Tsuchiya drove the non-turbo Solstice back-to-back with an MX-5 and preferred the Solstice, so at that point I knew it was a worthy car!

The only reason you can compare the two cars is price, everything else is not comparable IMO..
Also a SS version will probably be around 32-35k similar to the Camaro SS |

...agreed, price is about the only thing that can be compared.
