The one thing I never came across in my research before buying this car was how crap the stock battery is, brand new and is struggling a bit already in cold weather.:S

In my 2017 BRZ I can attest the fog light makes a significant difference illuminating the immediate road surface to the front and sides. So those fog light does work as intended (presuming the Toyota ones are the same).

It's possible there are just a lot of bad ones. I was going to switch to a tiny 5 pound battery but now that I have a GPS and will have a dash cam drawing power constantly I'm not sure that's going to be practical anymore

Seems like awful QC. I find that kind of hard to believe, but I guess not outside the realm of possible.

Mine's just now starting to crank a little slowly in the cold on the original battery which is over four years old. Thanks mostly to the heat down here in Texas, most batteries only last five or six years so I figure that's not too far off.

0w-20 is 0w-20 no matter who makes it so I don't know how it would make anything change as far as starting goes.

1. Is it possible that the 0w-20 motor oil from the factory when they deliver the car, is a slightly different formula than the ones used in subsequent oil changes. 2. Isn't it a common fact that as the car get driven, motor oil loses viscosity and gets dirty. This is especially true in a brand-new vehicle as there are more metal particles, thus a possibility that the oil no longer has the same viscosity range (ie. 0W-20) that it would have when it was new? I can see that the original oil having lot of metal particle from initial engine break-in, moisture and acids from combustion blowby, etc. |
