avoid both and go to a private garage. Theres at least 5 really good subaru shops within your area.

If you use a garage for your service make sure you keep very good records of exactly what was done when in case you need warranty work at some point. One missing oil change record or simply passing the required periods can mean the difference between getting something done or being denied.

I know maintenance done at dealer will be on carproof report. How about ones done at private garages? That's another considerations I suppose.
Back to the original question - anyone know if it's less expense at Toyota or Subaru? |

Aside from warranty work most people avoid the dealer if at all possible. Most independant shops charge a lower rate than most dealerships. I dont think there is a general rule regarding the cost of service at Toyota vs Subaru.
All the shops mentioned are well known and popular in the local Subaru community and I am pretty sure their hourly rates will be lower than the dealer. For parts, some people have found Subaru less expensive in some cases, but Toyota can be less in others.

why dont you just call the specific dealerships and check? I dont think anyone on here compares pricing between subaru and toyota. Most i reckon visit a private shop and more competent shop and save money

Now if I was going for mods or tuning I would use those specialty shops but for day to day maintenance there really is no savings.

iGarage is something like $80 for an oil change and Markham Subaru is $100 and change.
I've been to both. Can't complain about either one. |

dealership charges 60-65$... they really don't make money off of oil changes.

I've never paid more than $65 taxes in at Toyota for an oil change... I only take it to the dealership because it's like $5 more than buying the oil and filter and doing it myself.
