Yeah I agree. I'm in no rush for a car so will shop around for a price, if I can't get it I won't. In some ways I wouldn't mind waiting a few months to hear more about how far off an STi version is but I'll probably be too impatient :P

I would be interested to know two things

Has anyone had an order accepted by Subaru dealer for a BRZ in the past few weeks.

There are reports that some early orders have received a letter from Subaru quoting their number. Anyone received a number greater than 100 ?

Just remembered the one other thing that would make me get a GTS... If the BRZ for Aus comes with that disgusting spoiler (I'm serious...well 80% serious).

JDM-dono and BigM: I'm with you guys on this. I'm not in a panic buy mode and will take the time to find the right deal. So I might as well wait for the BRZ because I'm waiting for the dust to settle anyway. I don't like the current situation where dealers are quoting over the TMCA website price and sales reps have become arrogant -- with a take it or leave it attitude. But no, I'm not desperate for this car. I'll sit on cash for as long as it takes. And in today's economy, cash is king.

Subaru BRZ

I have got a BRZ on order subject to satisfaction with the vehicle during the test drive. From what I've been told I should get the 5 th one in WA. I spoke with the dealer yesterday after viewing the 86 at a local Toyota Garage. She a beautiful piece of kit. Anyway the Subaru Garage told me the following:

Car has arrived in WA

National dealer meeting to be held on the 5 or 6 th July. This was originally planned for late June but I suspect the Toyota pricing made them re think the meeting. After the meeting all specs, prices, available vehicles should be public.

Car release date , currently not known but expected to be around the last week in July.

Hope that helps

There is no chance in hell Subaru will price this the same or over a WRX. that's just silly. The BRZ in all markets to date has always been a couple of grand cheaper in the WRX.

Maj3sty raises a good point. If the BRZ is within the price range of the WRX it will affect and conflict with the sales of the WRX which is highly undesirable.

Subaru performance image in Australia has been built around the WRX and WRX STi. If the BRZ is within the price range of the WRX, they risk losing sales in favor of the BRZ thereby reducing their profit.

If BRZ pricing comes close to WRX pricing, a lot of people would choose WRX instead. WRX has more power, torque, and is 4WD. Also, more practical in terms of seating and trunk space.
Yeah I agree. This was my argument prior to the price of the 86 being released (seeing as the price of one affects the price of other)

The WRX is now nudging close to $50k for a premium manual on the road. I think BRZ and WRX markets are very different, but $6-8k is enough to maintain the gap and keep both cars going strong.

Spoke to a Subaru dealer just now - they want 3K deposit (it is subject to test drive, etc) and they expect the vehicle to be priced at 39,999.

I think I am going to give up and just wait till I can go and buy one straight away, even if its second hand.

Ufff! That is steep.

I realise that the BRZ will be more exclusive since it's in limited numbers but is it really worth the extra $5,000 (+ extra servicing costs) just for a few badges?

if it's fully loaded like the GTS and assuming $39,990 is drive away then it's only a few hundreds more.

Don't believe any dealer until you've got official word from Subaru. A mate was told the BRZ had the WRX clutch and more power.

As a Toyota dealer, we had no ideas on price until the announcement hit the internet. We found out when the public found out.

I heard mid 40s drive away too so that lines up with 40 rrp but true you have to wait until its announced. I'd be a no way at that much extra over a gts unless you actually get something for the money...

so Subaru dealers are still taking orders? I heard that the whole 2012 shipment was pre-ordered. If they price at $40k plus ORC that will place them below the WRX, which was their original advice, and a premium of around $5k over the GTS, so we can assume better specification. I would order the Subaru for the WRC colour and a few extra features and a few thousand more wouldn't be a show stopper. The BRZ is also sharper looking.
