Subaru Australia - BRZ Website Updated

http://subaru.com.au/

Slightly updated with a BRZ tease, more info coming in July
So I wonder who here has actually purchased/put down a deposit for a BRZ?

lol I got excited when I saw that, only to click through and find out there's no more info up.

I just spoke to a couple of dealers this morning after I went and saw an 86 and fell in love with it (but will get a BRZ if I go ahead)...

Apparently they have the release on the 13th, I've booked in to go view the car and get all the details that weekend, can't wait!

Saw the update yesterday as well. Only info regarding BRZ in showrooms July.

From what I've been hearing, a lot of people have placed preorders on the BRZ. Though not sure if they're members on this forum.

Only reason why I'm not placing a preorder is because of all the horror stories I've been hearing from US and here of ppl getting screwed over on pricing or availability of the car despite already being assured they'll have one there. I've had my fair share of sour incidents with sale representatives, so I'm waiting till the car comes out.

I'm with you. Seems mad to put down a deposit without knowing the actual car it's against. You're throwing your leverage away for negotiating on price too!

Site hasn't been updated much, as stated above just the possible arrival times of the first stock in late July, and that is about it. Wish Subi Australia got there act together with their car, it almost appears as an unwanted child in comparison to how Toyota treats the 86.

tbh want to compare the 86 and BRZ before making my final purchase decision.

Yer I would like to compare the 86 and BRZ as well but I think they're finalizing the specs and price since Toyota surprised everyone with their low prices for the 86.

Also, bear in mind that the Subaru is marketing the BRZ in lower volumes than 86 in hope of making the BRZ appear more prestigious (not sure if that's the right word) than the 86.

I think exclusive is a better word, but I get what you're saying. If numbers of the BRZ are more limited, market value for those vehicles should in theory hold up better than the 86.

It is no surprise, Subaru Aus always said they would be late July.
Toyota only released pricing two weeks before cars were available. Subaru will be similar. One reason to wait for the BRZ will be the WRB colour.
My reason is that I own Subaru's now and like to stay loyal.
Price will not be a show stopper even if it is a few thousand more.

Agreed our GT base model is akin to the Scion FRS
GTS is more like the BRZ Limited (minus the spoiler)

Playing the devil's advocate are we?

I've been told 5.5k more by a toyota dealer, which I do not believe.

I'm pretty sure the BRZ Limited is packed with more features than the 86 gts, I just can't remember what features they were.

I think they might've been ambushed by the GTS equipment levels.

A sunroof isn't possible. Would you pay more for full leather? A mate was told by some moron at a Subaru dealer that the BRZ comes with a WRX clutch.

I had heard the 2012 supply would come with unique build plates but that's surely not worth more.

I'm calling it now. Same car as the GTS with the Subaru nav system instead of Toyota and the pricing will be $1,000 to capitalize on 86 supply constraints. But again, surely the BRZ will be hard to get too given that 200 is the number for the rest of the year.

Mid 40s is what I've heard for the BRZ... What is the RRP of a GTS? I remember seeing people paying just under $40k but can't recall the actual RRP.

If it's $5k more I'd just get a GTS, and that's from a huge Subaru fan...

That doesn't really line up with the "cheaper than WRX" line we were hearing previously either. TBH my money is on a line all price with GTS, or within a few hundred dollars, based on there not being much (any?) difference in the overseas models so that rules out a big difference in specs to justify more.

I suppose the only thing is if they think they can mop up orders of people who missed out on getting a GTS this year and charge a premium for it...

$35,490 plus ORC for the manual.

I reckon it'll be no more than $37,990 but as far as I'm concerned there's no brand prestige to justify a higher asking price for that car.

Didn't see our post before my last, but yep, I reckon this is about right.

That would be about as close as they'd want to get to the $39,990 ask for the WRX too I would imagine.

About as much as those "86 sold out" headlines I'd reckon...

What I got told today was, come in and check it out when it launches so if you want one you can get your order in nice and fast to secure the colour you want... That to me != sold out at all.

The only problem with that approach is that dealer will screw you over if you really want the car because they know they've got a sale immediately.

I'm in no rush to get one, but it'll be nice to have one sooner rather than later.
