Oh Sh** It's Here!!! :P

My BRZ came home today, it's dead sexy. Drove 120 miles today, came home and took some glamour shots.

Looks sharp! Nice pictures, too. I've gotta see this garage!

Do you have four bolts on the front plate? My front plate holder only has the two at the top, and isn't tall enough to cover the bottom. I actually spent a couple of hours last night installing cheap, black metal license plate frames. I had to "fake" the bottom bolts to make it look right. Little things like that are funny: both my MINI and my BMW have/had provisions for mounting with all four holes. It looks much better that way…

Sony,

Sorry I missed you at Cityside. I brought mine home yesterday too. Your pictures look great! I wish I had such a nice place to keep mine.

Is it just me, or does having a great new car make you even more nervous around distracted drivers?

Dan

We have matching inspection stickers!

Now the State Troopers will leave me alone for not having one

It doesn't leak but I have drip pans under the engine and transmission just in case.

Yea, only that one spot is mine, the others are for the other 5 units. I am the only one with a garage lift though. However we all have electrical installed for one.

Just broke 1000 miles! Tomorrow I will change the oil and replace it with Penzoil Ultra 0w-20.

Also my buddy Chris (TheEngineer) just got his BRZ, we went for a cruise on the pike and got a ton of looks. Also went and got Xpel Ultimate film installed on his BRZ too. I got my Xpel Ultimate installed at Unique Car Care in Wakefield. I cannot recommend them more highly, they rock, I'm taking my car back there next week to get Opti-coated and a 20% window Tint.

Some more pics!

Chris got the GBS

Looks great, Sony; nice pics! What'd the clear bra cost? I've already got a small ding in the nose. I'm expecting to spend roughly a grand on a bra.

What's the benefit of Opti-coat? Why wouldn't you do that before the clear bra?

Opti-Coat essentially "thickens" your clear coat, making it more resistant to scratches and swirls. Makes it easier to clean too
because its easier for the Clear bra to stick to the clear coat, then to the Opticoat.

I hope not, man! We only charge like $6-700 to do 3M Ventureshield clear bras to Porsches and Audis... (dealer cost is $300; if you pay a grand you're getting raped!)

I was rounding up a bit. :-) I had Sublime Restorations in Rowley do the bonnet on my MINI a few years ago and was very happy with the work (which now needs to be done again because I didn't invest in the clear bra, then…). My wife had a clear bra put on her MINI at about that time, too. When I spoke to them a couple of weeks ago he told me that he'd just wrapped the entire front clip of a GT-R, to the tune of $2,800! I don't know the name brand of the material he's using, but the more expensive stuff is supposed to be extremely resilient and durable, to the point where you can scrub it with acetone with no ill effect. Same can't be said of the cheaper material (again, so I'm told).

I'm not sure how much I'll have done. It seems like the bare minimum is the front bumper and mirrors. The hood is much lower profile than the MINI's so I'm not sure I need to spend the money there. We'll see. I'm interested in the Opti-coat, however. I hate waxing. :-)

I got an Xpel Ultimate which is more than double the cost of the 3M VentureSheild. It's also WAY fucking better, I paid $1500 for the full hood, entire front bumper, both full side fenders, and the mirrors. It's nothing like the VentureSheild, it's self healing if it gets scratched or knicked and you can't stain or mark it even with permanent marker. Check out the video's here:

My buddy Chris got the same stuff on his. It's freaking awesome.

The Opti-coat is a second clear coat that repels water and is PERMANENT, it cannot be removed by any natural processes, even chemicals can't take it off. It resists scratches and bug guts and all that stuff. Makes it easier to wash the car too. It's not nearly as expensive as the Clear Bra, the guy from Unique Car Care is doing it for me at the cost of a full detail, because before you apply opticoat you have to buff, clay bar and polish the entire car to may sure your clear coat is perfect since it is a permanent coating. So he is detailing the car and then applying the Opti-coat for $300. Going to get a 20% Tint too at the same time but that costs extra.

So they'll just opti-coat right over the Xpel?

No, the opticoat is its own thing. It will.protect the parts of the car that aren't clear bra'd.

I did the full hood, full fenders, full front bumper and the painted mirror covers. Everything else will be opticoated. I went to Unique Car Care in Wakefeild, MA. They are awesome, highly recommended. PM me and I'll give you the guys number.
