Installed Auto Dimming/Homelink mirror

In case anyone is deciding to add the electronic mirror themselves....it is soooooo easy!

Amazingly, the instructions are well done and easy to follow. The only thing that's questionable is how to get access to the connector.
You just snap the front dome light down out of the headliner...pry it with your fingers from the side nearest the back of the car...it just snaps right out. No need to even remove the lens.
They give you a connector cord that is ready to just plug into a socket up inside the headliner...a little hard to see but its there kinda on the passenger side of the hole.
Any other questions...I'd be glad to answer.

Cool I want to do this and have questions. Where did you buy the mirror? Do you have a piece that covers the wire coming out of the mirror? How much was it? Did you need any tools. And lastly any pictures?
Thanks in advance.

I bought it at the dealer...$271...should have got it cheaper
Yes, the cover piece comes with the kit
You need a phillips head and a torx screwdriver (will check size).
Will post pics and scans of instructions tomorrow

I thought about doing a vid...but really, it's so easy you don't need one.
Will try to post the instructions tomorrow.

I don't think I have any torx bits. The size would be nice to know.

In that link it states "Please note H501SSA040 adapter is required when installing this mirror"

Is this "adapter" included when buying this or do we need it?

Here you go!...sorry for the delay.
I didn't disconnect the battery...because I didn't want to lose all my radio presets and phone connection etc...not sure I would have lost them but didn't want to take the chance...make that decision at your own risk.

I was going to do this but... That wire being exposed looks really "unfinished." Is this the final result or is there another cover?

Thanks

hahaha...unfinished? Every mirror like this out there has that wire...keep in mind how close I was when I took this shot. You can barely notice it otherwise.
It needs to be a little loose though..so you can adjust the mirror.
I could probably pull a bit of it in now that I'm adjusted and all set.

Yeah, the factory ones I've experienced (like VW, Audi) have the wires buried under plastic covers. I thought since this was a port installed option it would look completely factory installed. It's not a huge deal but definitely looks like an afterthought.

I did this to my Mazda3 and I had to run wires down the A pillars and I also had to find wires to tap into. This one is sooooo much easier!

I'd like to see if anyone that had theirs port installed looks any different...but really it looks fine to me and I'm about as fussy as they come.
