I think that is relatively accurate rule of thumb although they look at more than CELs. The actual emissions numbers are looked at from the OBDII connector.

Thanks to you both! I recognize you from the forums, Dadhawk. Didn't realize you were in GA. I think my plan is to pick up the kit before heading down and waiting until after my first test to get it set up just to be safe, but it's good to know it won't be a problem going forward.

Some of them do it so fast it's easy to miss. They just do it with a mirror. Some stations have it on the floor so they just have to look down to see it.

If you are moving to more rural area, there are counties which do not require emissions testing.

As long as all but one (maybe two) ready checks are complete, your gas cap seals, and the CEL works but isn't on, you'll pass. As mentioned earlier the cat check is purely visual.

What if people's pofiles are set to private? How can you tell if a car is "ruined/broken" without popping the hood and throwing it up on a lift?
I hope these questions don't seem like nonsense, cause it seems like me and the majority of new people that are trying to join get denied, shrug it off, and just move on for the most part.
