I'm waiting for a company to come out with a set of plugs for the stock intake system that plugs all the resonance chambers.

And? What's the difference in sound? Is it significant? Do you hear the exhaust more, or is it just quieter all around?

Yes how did it impact cabin sound, hopefully quieter? Did you plug the line to the cabin to prevent vapour ingestion? I assume that you plugged the intake opening?

Yeah, I'm on this side of the fence as well. I'd like to make it louder. I rode in a pre-production car and could SWEAR it was significantly louder in the cabin. Does anybody know for a fact if anything was changed regarding noise levels for the production cars?

Our intake kit will come with a delete plug. That's what Mattles has on his car, in prototype form. It's pretty easy to remove the sound tube, but you need to plug the hole left in the intake tube and the hole in the firewall.

Well if anyone hears of a way to increase the noise level. Let us know.

I can tell you that last Friday at 9:00 pm it was cold outside(turbo weather) And the note seemed louder than normal.

So how much quieter is the cabin?

Hard to say, because we are running it with our intake. It has not been tested with the stock system.

I kind of tried to see if this sound tube worked like the mustangs do. I pulled it apart starting at the big tube between the airbox and throttle body. There wasn't any sort of filter or screen there. Next, I moved to the apparent baffle that necks down to the small hose. I pulled it off, and there weren't any filters or screens. It seems that the only thing that does any muffling is that one canister. I now just need to find a piece of pipe that necks down and see if getting rid of that canister amplifies the sound.

Yay! First post.

I've revved up into the 6k range the other day.. I'm still being careful with my break-in, and I only did it because I needed to pass a car on a two-lane road and needed to be quick about it.

I was very dissapointed with the sounds I heard coming from the car.. Reminded me of a Dodge pickup truck... tons of sound with no corresponding acceleration.. .sound purely for the sake of sound.. and it was a bad sound.. all rumble and mess with no melody or tune.

I will definitely be removing the sound tube. what a stupid idea that was!

Yay! First post.
I would not recommend doing this. That canister is what separates the clean intake air from the "noise side" that goes to the firewall. If you remove it, you would effectively be creating a vacuum leak and allowing unfiltered air into the intake.
