Playing music off of USB question

Hi guys, I just bought this (Verbatim Store 'n' Stay 16 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive 97464 (Black):
Amazon.com: Verbatim Store 'n' Stay 16 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive 97464 (Black): Electronics Amazon.com: Verbatim Store 'n' Stay 16 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive 97464 (Black): Electronics

Plugged into the USB port and nothing happened. I tried another USB drive and worked fine. Anyone bought the same USB drive?

Might be due to the format of the USB.

Maybe try formatting it to FAT32?

It might be too large to be recognized. Some ports have a limit on what they can recognize.

I have a SanDisk 16gB that's small like the OP, and mine works just fine.

OP, maybe try doing a full re-format, and not just a quick?

Check to see if it came preloaded with any utility software. Some non-computers don't like that stuff.

Formatted and still doesn't work. I wonder if it has no reserve power on the USB what so ever since it's so small so the car doesn't recognize it.

I don't know what to say. Maybe you need to Amazon. Tell them it's faulty, and they will accept it for free. That's what I would do. Sorry for your luck man!

Did you put any music on it first?

It's not uncommon with these super small sticks to give read problems, I remember another car forum where people had similar problems with them.

Yes I have music on it and it works on the computer. I will try it on my Honda Fit to see if it recognizes it.

So has anyone gotten one of those tiny usb drives to work? I was thinking of getting this:

Amazon.com: SanDisk Cruzer Fit 32GB Flash Drive - SDCZ33-032G-B35: Computers & Accessories Amazon.com: SanDisk Cruzer Fit 32GB Flash Drive - SDCZ33-032G-B35: Computers & Accessories

But now wondering if these micro style drives will work at all.

Thanks

Tried the USB card on my Honda Fit and it worked. I guess Subaru's USB is very picky.

I bought a microSD to USB adapter and tried that. It kept cutting out and switching over to regular radio. So I formatted a 300GB external hdd that is powered through USB and put all of my music on that. I haven't had a chance to thoroughly test it yet, but it does work. Use this program to format large hard drives to fat32: http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/ind...?guiformat.htm

Edit: Doesn't cut off. Does take around 30 seconds for the drive to spin up. However, it is only reading around 111GB of around 250GB I have on the drive.
