Seems to me that the Front to Rear (curb) weight distribution is 55% to 45%. I did the math and to get the 53% to 47% reported distribution, the driver and gas/stuff in the trunk would have to weigh only 58 kg (128 lbs) at the rear axle. Interestingly, with a driver and gas at 135 kg (300 lbs.) above the rear axle, the weight distribution is 50:50.

Normally when things are stolen they are not posted as front page news for everyone to have, thus I assumed Subaru gave the go ahead. I dont think the owners of this web site want to find themselves paying fines or going to court.

How much do you think it will cost for spark plug service at a Subaru dealer?

Sure. I fully expect Subaru to come-up with some special tool to reach the sparkplugs, that would cost arm and leg
Updating the service manual is easy and Subaru (and other manufacturers) does it many-many times a year for their typical car.

Thanks for the post hachi!

Spark plugs look so easy!!

1. Undo some wiring
2. Undo some exhaust piping
3. Lift the engine out of the car
4. Change plugs

Thank goodness for my new, easy to maintain car

A lot of complaining about replacing a part that you only mess with once every 5-6 years. If you are really that worried about it save a few bucks a month and just pay someone to do it and enjoy the hell out of your call until that point.

Lol this is true for most people. I don't care, I see it as a fun saturday project with a case of beer and a couple friends. I just thought it was funny that I'm slowly reading the steps for it and all of a sudden get to "lift the engine out".

I've had my current car for 22 years and never changed the plugs. Runs great!

Yes, that is using the assumption that Subaru does not own this web site, obviously. If you are going to imply something just come out and say it. Do you know or believe that Subaru owns this web site?

I don't know about directly owning it, but I'm fairly certain they're well connected to it.

i've never read a tech manual like this before, but do all the manuals specify the displacement and "non turbo"

iirc all usdm subaru models have a trim that includes a turbo except the tribeca..is this a hint at future models, or just the standard per subaru manuals?

Why does everyone assume that you actually *need* to jack up the engine to remove the spark plugs? (factory manuals are FULL of convoluted procedures that aren't necessary - use it for the pictures and the torque values)

I can almost guarantee that you can do it from the top or the bottom without moving the engine with a little bit of work. Even if you have to move the engine, it should only take the removal of two nuts, not the whole rigamarole that the factory manual states.

can you get at them by removing the wheels and accessing them through the fenders? from the look of the pics of the powertrain, that might be feasible. I can get to my rotary ones that way, and they shouldn't be so deep that they can't clear the body.

Has anyone seen schematics or the schematic section of the FSM yet?

Do dealers even have access to the schematic section?
