Wings here are sometimes a valuable asset in finding the car.
If your question was serious then the answer is don't do anything since snow will not hurt it. If your question was a joke the answer is the same.

true. but if $30 of racer tape and prevent some chips, it's worth it to me

Would certainly help with salt chips and such but won't do squat against heavy ice or packed snow. The risks of winter driving are real but they exist for all cars at some level or another so no sense losing sleep over worrying about them.
Again. It is just a car.

This is how a perfect winter road looks like, in my opinion.

(From today's drive in western Norway)

No salt, just nicely ploughed and packed snow.
The traction is fairly low, but stable and predictable.

Oh, how I wish they'd stop salting everywhere around where I live

A THOUSAND "Amens." They salt here like McDonald's use to salt fries. It creates a nice corrosive slurry that gets into every crevice of your car, AND is far more slippery on the road, especially as it refreezes, than the original snow EVER was. Salting roads is one of mankind's dumbest ideas. I, too, lived in an area that was very cold (frequently as low as -35F), and we drove on packed snow w/ some sanding on hills and near major intersections. It was wonderful to drive there. Now, I live where we only see subzero F temps a few times a winter, but more snow, and they salt the roads prior, during, and after every snow almost. It's ridiculous. The roads suck, there's tons of accidents, you need to replace your rotors every year and your calipers every two years, and your car every six years unless you wash it weekly. IT SUCKS. I hate salt.

Grouse, grouse, grouse, complain, codge, codge, codge.

Never replaced a rotor due to salt in my life. Calipers I just lube up the pins well and never replaced one of those either.
So far my car went through one salty season (we get more salt then snow I think) and the only signs of rust anyplace are the untreated bolts on the exhaust. Have a big stone chip that actually gouged the steel on my front fender that I have left exposed as an experiment (100 guys here just started to weep or got pissed off) and so far it hasn't even started to show signs of even surface rust. So far I am very optimistic at how well these cars can take the salt and abuse of winter driving.

That's good to hear.
I had a rock hit the roof, small dent and bare metal.
Started to rust almost immediately

Two things makes me loathe the salted roads:
- Unpredictable traction. Suddenly and without warning it goes from soup to ice.
- All the rust that has killed so many nice cars.

The car is boatloads of fun in the winter, just keep an eye out for tall snow things that you may hit. I faired quite well last winter, even with the STI lip.

however, my winter beater is getting long in the tooth, and if it dies on me, i will have to drive the BRZ in the winter. if that happens, is there any kind of protector that can be put on the front bumper to protect against ice scrapes?
If you're worry bout scrapes, look into ProTekt skit plates for our car.
