Need an opinion...

I have Subaru 4 pots on my Daily Driver...*the Speedwagon as I refer to it...the plan was to use the BRZ wheels on the speedwagon ...problem is...the BRZ wheels don't Fit over the Brakes... soo the delima is: move the 4 pots over to the BRZ...and stock 2 pots to the Speedwagon so the wheels fit and life goes on... or just get another set of cheap daily wheels that fit the brakes and sell the BRZ Wheels to someone???

the Plus side: I would have 4pots on the BRZ...
and stainless lines
Better brakeing??? I already know Better pads...and new Rotors as well

THOUGHTs???

My knowledge on swapping calipers for classing is fuzzy...Is that an ST* legal mod? If it isn't, I wouldn't touch it because the street prepared class can be a serious money pit!

From 14.6

Brake calipers and mounting brackets may be replaced provided they bolt
to the standard locations and the number of pistons is equal to or
greater than standard. A functioning emergency brake of the same
type, operation, and actuation as OE must be present.
yes..Legal in ST

Try for a while with the stock brakes. With a car under under 2700 lbs you likely dont need 4 pots. Stock brakes with High Performance pads should be more than adequate.

We run stock brakes on the GXP with EBC Yellow Stuff pads, and with 315 tires we have more issues with brake lock-up and ABS than we do with a lack of braking power.

For my last lap at an autocross on Sunday I made a racing stripe out of painters tape for my e36 M3. The consensus was that the car looked much faster on track. Obviously something was wrong with the timing gates, because that stripe should have been good for another second on the low end.

This Saturday is when a major transition goes on the car...
Planned Mods:
-Subaru 4 pot Brakes..New Rotors ..unless the current BRZ rotors are the same as WRX ones..then the new ones I bought can go back..
-Motul Fluid 5.1
-JW2 Exhaust turndown/muffler delete..
-Rear Sway bar change...from factory 14mm to WRX 16mm...and will carry the STi 19 mm and the stocker with me to my event on Sunday.
-Alignment
-mounting all of my 17x9 42, and Hankook 245/40/17
-moving the Stock BRZ Brakes to the Speedwagon along with the Stock rims/tires
-installing Lightweight Battery in place of stocker
-balancing my Option BBS. with RE-01r for the daily's on the BRZ.
-find optimum camera mounting spots for 3 Cameras..
-make new magnets/numbers/letters ...thinking ... *86/186 STX(P) ..
that should be a full Day...
more later..

Bill

How did you make the magnets? Are you just changing the brake calipers because you want to be able to put the BRZ stockers on the speedwagon? I guess a little extra braking is nice, but aren't you worried it will throw the balance off a little? When is your first event again?

Go to your local vinyl Sign shop...and get whatever font, color and size numbers and letters....step 1.. I got 10inch numbers and 5 in letters in Cosmic Sans Bold and italisized..

go to EBAY and order magnet material
http://www.ebay.com/itm/180867791095...84.m1439.l2649

Stick um on and cut them out..

As for the Brakes... nope not worried about the balance at all... Should be good...the Factory Brakes are Decent to begin with...but I have to save money somewhere..(0 Cost) to me... to be able to put the BRZ wheels on the Speedwagon...buying another set of tires right now is not an option..
... I will document the weights and performance for sure tho..

What tires do you recommend for auto crossing? Getting a set of super light wheels and some tires to go with it!

that depends on alot of things..
-Budget
-Class your running
-race only???
-Daily drivers????
-your wanting to run these all the time??

Those are a few things to think about.. Is your car a daily driver...AutoX only...Weekends???

The Class your want to run in will also help determine size... I knew back when I want to run a Street tire class...so I planned accordingly...even went safe on the tire size because I not sure where this thing is going to be classed... But its a safe selection I did that fits into just about all the street tire classes it "could" be in... so I am good..

Budget is the next big thing...How much do you want to spend..???

any more questions...Don't hesitate to ask

Bill

I'm running Star Specs on my e36 M3, and they've been stellar so far.

-Budget (not really sure but Trying to stay relatively cheap under $200 per tire)
-Class your running (No classes where I run, its all spec based)
-race only??? (Id prefer to drive home with them if possible)
-Daily drivers???? (Nope car is a autox/weekend fun car only)
-your wanting to run these all the time??

I would prefer to have a set I do not have to change. The car will not see a lot of miles just to and from the track really.

Car is not a daily driver and will not be driven a lot mainly on weekends In the winter I will put the stockers back on.

Would also like to do a few track days

Lets say i was buying everything from tirerack or discount tire direct. What sizes rim and tires would you recommend as well ?
