Yes, but it's way at the bottom so it helps with lowering the center of gravity.

You are paying for the cosworth name more than anything with their kit. I actually installed their kit on another local BRZ 2 weeks ago and it was a nightmare. The blower assy was nice but that's about all I can say about it.

As for horsepower, the biggest differences between the two kits are plenum/cooler design, runners, and intake/tb placement. I can't be certain these are the reasons for hp differences but that would be my guess.

Here's a pic for reference of the blower. Notice throttle body positioning out the back.

Our Test mule was 100% stock. Only thing we added was a bung for our wideband. Once all the testing was done we added a Borla cat-back and all cosmetic modifications. Stock thermostat is also used. No need to replace it.

That's me! I've been talking a lot with him, wish I lived on the right coast to meet up! Glad to see you on here too. If you're on FB, feel free to send me an add. Bob can point you my way. I'm really looking forward to see how your kit does.

A couple of questions: I've noticed a couple of threads about broken supercharger belts (on other brands). are you stranded if that happens or can you drive/'limp' home?

is replacing the belt on the e-force a relatively simple matter that can be done at the roadside should a belt break? i'm assuming it's the same as replacing the stock serpentine belt - just need a wrench to pull on the belt tensioner (and any other associated tools). i was just wondering whether it'd be prudent to carry a spare belt in the trunk and tools 'just in case'.

Other might be more familiar, but I'll take a stab at answering your question based on info I have available:

Unfortunately, the E-force is directly driven by the belt, as opposed to an independent drive system like the one on a Kraftwerks system, so you wouldn't be able to drive away if you break a belt. The good thing is, it looks like its pretty straight forward to replace the belt. Looking at the install instructions, it looks like you would just need to take off the intake and maybe the throttle body, both easily accessible. So if you're worried about it, I would just keep a spare belt in my trunk.

You shouldn't need to remove anything. Just use a breaker bar to move the tensioner pulley, pull the belt off, let go of the tensioner pulley, route the belt, move the tensioner pulley again, and put the new one on the pulley.

As with many other kits utilizing a v-belt driven supercharger for this vehicle, our E-Force supercharger belt routes around vital components such as the alternator and waterpump. If a belt were to fail, you will not be able to safely drive home.

Because of the risk involved, we go to great lengths to ensure this does not happen. We work with OEM suppliers to do belt performance analysis. Loads, duty cycle, and life expectancy are carefully tested in real world conditions. There are many factors that affect belt life. Tension, idler size and type, belt wrap, and heat just to name a few. In a clean environment with good alignment and normal operating conditions and temps we can expect a minimum of 37k miles of belt life on a standard EPDM belt.

However, we do not use standard EPDM belts. We are using Continental ELITE Poly-V belts with Helicog profiles. We have been using this belt on ALL of our supercharger kits since day 1. The superior material and design allow this belt to run quieter and withstand higher temperatures than standard belts. For more information click the link below:
http://www.veyance.com/ProductsDetail.aspx?id=3128
We've really put this belt through some serious abuse with our 2300 series superchargers and it has proven itself many times in preventing belt slip and lasting longer than many other belts used for superchargers.

Lastly, replacing the belt is a one minute job at most. It is the same procedure as replacing the OEM belt. You do NOT need to remove any other components. Throttle or intake.

The belt is also easiest to obtain through Amazon Prime with one day shipping in case of emergencies.

Assuming the engine isn't blazing hot, the belt replacement should be super quick. I can show you how to do it; the only tool you need is a ratchet and 14mm socket, or a 14mm wrench.

it actually looks like access to the tensioner is better than OEM, as the sound tube and resonator aren't there to get in the way of the ratchet. LOL - i'd bring a long a pair of gloves in the trunk just in case as well.

Like the look of this kit... if only it would get shipped already so we could test it on our shop FR-s.
