Subaru dealer here doesnt really care to give a clear idea of when where and how the BRZ is arriving to the region. Plus I dont think they would bother as Al Futtaim is doing them an indirect favor with all the marketing and publicity for the 86..

Its coming in August and they said AED 115K is the price..

Tomorrow I will get an 86 delivered in-front of my door step. I will be keeping it for 5 days as I test the car and see how it goes as a daily driver..

I don't know who did the marketing plan for subaru dealers in middle east but the way they will do it is BIG FAIL

In here (Qatar) we got the 1st BRZ (mid range trim) and its priced at 135,000 QR can you beleive it?

I told the sales man, and he said that their plan is only to sell 5 to 10 BRZ's per year in Qatar and mostly all will be auto

I told him wtf those guys were smoking? the culture here is all toyota and you want to sell your brz at higher price than the gt86 ??
I don't know whats going on, but seems not right to do this? I was hoping the brz will be priced lower than the gt86 to increase subaru sales at middle east

ROJ, I just saw your blog and the photos. I noticed the car has leather seats, side fins but not the full 'NUR' spec body kit. So is the car you have driven the AED 125k model?

As far as the dealer told me this is the top spec model you are mentioning. I got a 2nd review about the driving experience.

so are you still buying the car after the long test ?

did you experience any weird things with the car during your drive ? any engine shake or hesitation on low rpm or something abnormal ?

No? I drove the engine in all kinds of conditions and revs, it is very smooth and consistent.. Very good engine but some people might consider adding an extra 20 horsepowers to get an extra oomph out of it.. I personally was happy with it as it is..

I think I should try the manual version and see how much power it gives.. Regardless, the car's tail does swing sideways on strong acceleration like a rear wheel drive car should do and traction control kicks in at the last moment leaving you to enjoy that tail swing..

I have finished my review and damn, I need a break, 5 days of driving the car, a couple of days without a decent sleep due to the fact I was too excited to push it around..

I loved it; I would buy one in the future..

Nothing unusual about the fuel cap door but the car only runs on 98 octane super fuel due to the fact it is equipped with direct injection.
Hold On.
In Jordan the highest fuel value is 95. I was thinking of buying the car from Oman/UAE and taking it to Jordan.

Please tell me it is ok?

I am trying to find out a clear answer about this situation. Direct injection is becoming mainstream and it is important to know how to live with it..

As far as I understood low quality fuel will clog the injectors on the long run and periodic cleaning of the fuel injectors is vital to avoid such expensive damage.

FR-S Octane Rating from Manual:

"...The engine is designed to operate at maximum performance using
unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 93 AKI (98 RON) or
higher. If 93 AKI (98 RON) fuel is not readily available in your area,
unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 AKI (95 RON) may be
used with no detriment to engine durability or driveability. However,
you may notice a slight decrease in maximum engine performance
and you may hear some knocking (pinking) of an engine while using
91 AKI (95 RON) fuel. Use of 91 AKI (95 RON) fuel will not affect your
warranty coverage...."

RON is Octane.

So thankfully 95 octane will work, though not as smoothly as 98.

its because of the poor fuel quality, we have 98 Ron, dont be worry

"note" our gcc car is called toyota 86 just like the Japanese model, and it doesn't have the huge GT logo that you see on the european version.
