Can you cram all of your track day gear into the BRZ...yes, check it out.

Hi guys,
There has been a ton of talk about the cargo capacity of these cars, and its ability to haul wheels, tires, and gear. I figured I'd load up our project BRZ and see if it could haul all of my autoX or track day essentials. Check it out here.

Since you have the tires stacked behind the seats, how much space is there above the tires to fit wider ones?

You can see a good portion of the vertical space in the pic below. There's quite a bit of vertical space remaining...maybe 4-5 inches? Wider rims and tires shouldn't be problematic. If you go bigger diameter though, that will push them out closer to the edges of the car, and likely won't allow them to sit side-by-side very well.

I do not...the car was up on our lift when I loaded it with the wheels, and we don't have another set of wheels/tires yet. There seems to be a sizable wheel gap stock, so I don't think it's going to be enough weight to cause any issues.

One more note...I found it much easier to load the wheels in through the front doors, rather then trying to slide them in from the back. When you try from the back, the top edge of the trunk is low, so it is difficult. You just need to have plenty of room on the sides of the car to open the doors as far as possible, and push the seats all the way forward. Then there's plenty of room to get them in without having to force them, etc.

I'm glad I'm not the only guy who brings a Razor scooter to auto-x!!

I usually brought a toolbox, EZ-up, two chairs, air tank, jack and two stands, helmet, and the scooter. Since I always ran street tires, never needed to bring a spare set. I'm not sure what wheels/tires I'll be running on the BRZ, but those heavy stockers & Prius tires have got to go!

The scooter is money at most tracks, particularly if you're instructing. Between drivers meetings, debriefs, chasing down students, and bathroom trips, you end up covering some serious miles out there...particularly if you're parked far away from the central control area.

I don't think you'll have any trouble fitting all that stuff in there without wheels/tires...should be good to go.

Yes, the stock BRZ wheel/tire package is heavy! The Volk CE28N's I have on my Miata right now are a hair over 7lbs. each. I can pick them up and mount them with one hand...I was getting spoiled!

Sweeeet...You better get driving! We have barely any miles on ours either. It's literally been up on the lift getting pulled apart since we brought it home. I think some of our employees who live the furthest away are going to commute in it to try and rack up some miles.

I weighed a bunch of odds and ends and will be posting later today most likely.

Nice. I haven't thrown it up on the lift yet, going to tonight or tomorrow.

Have you confirmed rear pad fitment? LGT or WRX?

I posted a brake thread in the brake forum. I think the rear actually cross-referenced with a Tribeca. Regardless, we have some pad options on the shelf with more coming. Let me know what you need.
