Nope, I read through the whole thing. And it's a 'thread'.
I get it, you need to sell these cars and establish a value. However, you are on an enthusiasts' site and although you are an enthusiast, you shouldn't justify actions such as a $2995 leather install. Frankly, value you feel is beneficial can't be seen now because we want our cars. It's ridiculous and isn't a moral thing that the dealer network you work for is making you do. You are better than that. Quit the place you're working, go work at Longo or another area dealer in SoCal that continually produces high numbers, even in down economic times. What few units you might be able to sell won't make up for the moral dilemma you'll face by shafting people.

The coyote saved the mustang in 2011, but the cheap getrag tranny almost sunk it. It has strong sales numbers because of the american power over performance mentality. Things are looking up however with the upcoming redesign and anniversary edition. |

Why is everyone mad at a $3k mark up if they're getting leather?
My local stealership is asking $5k over msrp and it's COMPLETELY STOCK with no add-ons. They claim that it's the "current market value" ![]()

I walked away disspaointed. I WAS friends with the sales men on facebook, when he stated $25k RIGHT BEFORE i arrived. Then when i went straight for the car it was marked at $30k, and then i asked what the REAL price was, he said, "it's what you see there." So, i went back home on his fb page and put him and his stealership on blast and warned everyone not to buy there or over msrp w/o options...he deleted me shortly after that. lol

Leather might be a nice option...but not for anything close to $3000. For a car this small and the minimal amount of leather wrap, $1400 tops. I can have it done by the same shop that does the local Scion/Toyota too, for about $200 less.
I suggest anyone wanting leather find out who your local dealer uses and shop the price. It's the one option we don't know the "invoice" on, and will vary for each dealership or city/area. I know Cali is expensive, but $3k? |
