Car was officially launched today in Bahrain. 4 cars were on display. Some "high" with 17" wheels and others "STD" with 16"s. Pricing between BD11,500 & 13,000 (DHS115,000 & 130,000) depending on options like nav and leather. Cars had stripes on the bonnet and weird "fins" on the side above the rear fender!

-The steep prices shows you what kind of dealers we have in general
"greedy bastards", i was expecting the STD 6MT to be for 95000 Dirhams max, now that i am disappointed, i will have to wait for Oman's dealer to reveal the prices, because sadly i have no faith at all in Al Futtaim to be reasonable = /

- those hood stripes, pillar fins, and chrome inserts is part the dealers mentality in here, they think by that setup they can attract the "Ricers", and they will sadly, its also another way to elevate the prices, i knew that its going to be like that.

the cars that been launch in Bahrain are all Auto as I mentioned earlier, these prices are not for the 6MT, expect them to be DHS5000 cheaper

note those GCC specific ugly touches!

That is still an annoying secret they will reveal at the last moment..

Last time they confirmed AED 100-120K but now they are claiming this is not the official price but they assured me that it sits very closely to the range mentioned above.

يا هلا بيكم

انا ما موجود في عُمان حاليا, بس سعر السيارة في الوكالة عندنا بعُمان 12.300 ريال عماني (~130,000 dirham?)
يعني سيارة رقم 3 اغلى من 1

I hope they don't sell more of those "ricer" 86.
I am going to buy a new car these 3 months, either a GTI or BRZ/86.

Anyone know when the BRZ arrives to the Gulf? I really prefer to own a Subaru rather than a Toyota

---------
btw: People in Oman are all complaining how "slow", "weak" and "cheap" it is compared to other cars.
I guess the same for the other Gulf'ers, they have no idea what a Driver's Car is, only soul-less Preformance Cars that go fast.

1st car delivered in Bahrain, here's the review of owner

Initial Feedback: White color was my fav choice, But orange was my choice due to it being a fully loaded version, When i saw the orange in natural street lights, I was blown away. It looks fantastic and demonstrates the curves very nicely.

The car looks very beefy on the road, something like a cross between a supra an LFA, ofcorse a miniature version.

from inside, the seating position is very nice, the driver sits low, within reach to everything you need, enough leg room for a big guy like me also head room.

the sound system and nav is not bad at all, the sound is not as good as my ex bimmer or range rover, but much better than my evo or c5 corvette.

the nav is an SD card featured, also comes witha cable for your usb connection (ipod + charging) and an Aux.

The drive:
I didn't floor it at all, specially being fresh, the guy at the dealer told me not to rev it across 2.5 - 3k rpm, but I have to say the throttle is absolutely responsive. Something i wasnt expecting at all. Once you kick down a bit, you can hear the boxer engines sound in the cabin, which is a lovely and lively feeling.

the steering and the stability is where you can immediately feel the edge in the 86. The steering is razor sharp, the turn angle is minimized and very accurate, turns are taken in easy and sharp.

The ride feel is a bit bumpy, not to the point being annoying, but more like an evo or an sti would feel. I swore that on multiple turns, I just want to turn off the traction control and slam the throttle, I would easily imagine an immediate tail out. But again, I didn't ( for now )!

Over all, I think my money was put in the right place, and I know that with few months down the road, this car will be a very big hit with after market parts flooding the net, It would be a bliss to customize it especially with the beautiful looks and the fine interior it accommodates.

For the cons (and trying not to be biased as an owner): I would've loved it a sun roof would've been available, and some on steering control for the audio. Also knowing that the front fenders are literally hollow ( to shave off weight) safety is also a concern if god forbid in case of collision.
Also a little bit of more power, I would say a 50 - 80 more hp would've made the car the ultimate driving / drifting machine in its ballpark.

pls let me know if anyone would like to know details of anything else...

Welcome to ft86 club, and damn Bahwan prices used to be cheaper than Al Futtaim, 10k less when it comes to Land Cruiser with same options for an example, and our dealer is playing mind games until the first of june, and for the BRZ, the dealer in AbuDhabi has no clue about it, no idea about Dubai's Subaru

Bahwan might be cheaper for other cars, maybe this is overpriced cause it is new(?). [Most of the people I know own cars other than Toyotas, so no real knowledge of Bahwan]
If the UAE is cheaper then I might buy from there, though I am really itching for a BRZ.

I'll find out from Subaru Oman when I return home to within a month. HOPEFULLY it'll be released soon and not overpriced.

And guys, post pictured of your Gulf/Middle-Eastern 86's and BRZ's when you get them!

THE NEWS !!
---------------
The base model starts at Dhs 95,000 for a 6-speed automatic version, without paddle-shifters and without a limited-slip differential. Standard features include cloth sports seats, halogen headlights, fog lamps, CD/MP3 stereo, Bluetooth, manual a/c, common power accessories and 16-inch alloy wheels with 205/55 tyres, as well as a stability control system with three modes, ABS and a full set of front, side, curtain and knee airbags.

The next model is exactly the same as above, but for Dhs 100,000, it comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip diff.

The mid-range model retails for Dhs 115,000, and comes with an automatic with paddle-shifters, a limited-slip diff, auto a/c, HID headlights, smart keyless entry with starter button, extra digital speedo, cruise control and 17-inch alloys with 215/45 tyres.

The top model, for Dhs 125,000, additionally gets a coloured front grille and rear bumper garnish, some tacked-on fins on the C-pillar, leather upholstery, and floor illumination.

There will be a full TRD body kit offered eventually that will cost extra

On the GCC catalogue, all models come with LSD FYI

Manual in Bahrain is around 5000dhs cheaper, not more expensive than auto

And if the insurance is applicibale outside? (I am studying College in Jordan, and will bring the car with me there. )

Inshallah.

I loved it, it drives like Pron!

Here is my take on the Toyota 86 as we tested it in Yas Marina Circuit:

http://www.86cult.com/?p=2066

& the specs and prices:

http://www.86cult.com/?p=2131

We get no funky bodykit here in the UAE and I personally dont care about it cuz the car looks just fine as it is..

AED 95000 is for the manual model.. AED 100000 is the automatic without LSD..

The other 2 higher trims are automatic.
