Lots of us run Waze on this. Just keep in mind, you need a mobile data connection of some sort (aircard, hotspot, or phone w/ hotspot capability) in order for Waze to work.

Coming back to that solution http://ca-fi.com/forum/viewtopic.php...013fdd95#p5084

Is there a way to edit "file "multi_navi_config" in the "manufactorycfg" map" without reflashing FW? I found factory.prop somewhere in filesystem, but editing it didn't make the trick.

Probably not.

I thought Waze allows you to download the Maps onto the phone? Or was that Google Maps?

You can download your route via wifi first then drive off but you lose some features, obviously.

Waze does store map chunks locally, but it's still intended to be run with a mostly-constant data connection (for its social features, among other things), and will throw a fit if goes to long without one.

I tried this one the other day and it just stayed on the splash screen and wouldn't proceed any further, luckily I was able to flash another rooted firmware on but that seems to be buggy and I want to go back to a stable official build, can I ask how you rooted it so I can then root a stock image myself

With a rooted firmware can you change the icons on the carhome screen? This is one of the few things about the system that bugs me, all of the unsed icons and being almost forced to use the stock music player.

I've not played around with it too much on root but I tried deleting some of the standard apps such as the swc but it wouldn't let me so just moved it along to the end where I wont see it

You're misinterpreting whatever you read, I promise. Here's a couple of links from those two sites, and another one, all of which clearly state that Android Auto is not an OS and runs on top of your car's existing OS.

http://www.theverge.com/2015/5/26/86...hyundai-sonata

http://www.androidcentral.com/android-auto

http://www.wired.com/2014/06/android-auto/

Those links don't specifically state that Android Auto runs on QNX, so here: http://www.androidheadlines.com/2015...roid-auto.html Note here that it isn't stated that Android Auto doesn't run on Android, only that it most likely is running on QNX.

Another link showing that Android Auto runs on QNX: http://www.androidcentral.com/audi-c...-vehicles-2015

Also just for kicks, here's the Parrot RNB6, announced at CES this year: http://www.engadget.com/2015/01/04/p...apple-carplay/ It's an Android head unit like ours that has Android Auto and CarPlay build in. Not sure how they got CarPlay in there, but Android Auto runs on Android, so at least that makes sense.

Um... "it's not a stand alone os, it's an app" is what I've been saying.

Sounds like something that could be side loaded anyway.
