Mine had:
1) Tail light condensation. Both side got replaced.
2) Rear deck popping noise. WD-40 the spot and it's been gone for almost 3 years.
3) Chirping noise. Got it replaced 2 years ago. (The green dot version.) It still chirps "sometimes" but it's only 10% as loud as the original pump.
4) Deformed driver side window weather strip. Got it replaced.
5) Rear seat latch popping noise. Put some (a lot of) grease on the latch.
6) Squeaky clutch. Getting diagnosed by the dealer at the end of this month.
7) Gear shift indicator stopped working. Debating whether to get it fixed... Warranty expiring in a few weeks.

My point. The most important thing the car is supposed to do. Getting from point A to point B. This car never failed me.

P.S. I have squeaky window too. But I didn't count that...

Probably not saying something you don't know already but there are 2 TSBs for the squeaky window. I had them done in the fall (more for the possible freeze issue than the noise) and never had a squeak again. Also never had them freeze or trip out once all winter.

I'm just worried that if I take my car into the dealer for any sort of warranty work, they're going to leave me with a scratch for my troubles. Or, they'll take my car out and joyride it. I feel like they'd get way too excited seeing an FR-S with wheels, springs, and catback exhaust coming in for "service" to leave it alone.

They probably see enough modified cars that it's not a novelty for them. You live in San Francisco, not Montana. I wouldn't have trusted my dealer in Podunk, Delaware (all of Delaware), but in Las Vegas modified cars at the Subaru dealer are common. They even sell and install GT-Spec and Whiteline products.

Those dudes see so many cars it is just another one to them. As special as it is to you or me to them it is just a job.
As far as scratches go you can do something to it as easily as they can and at least they would be liable. Does shit happen? Sure sometimes but again these guys deal with hundreds of cars a week and you have to trust that they at least try not to get fired for causing damage all the time. I know there are loads of horror stories on here but what we don't see are the millions of cars done a year without a single problem. I personally have had cars serviced at dealers well over100 times and have never once had any issues.

Not getting something fixed under warranty for fear of damage is just plain counter productive.

Mine is one of the first thousand made. Closing in on 70k miles and I have had zero actual problems. I did have crickets but they dissapeared a while ago. Everything else that has gone wrong is due to all the fun I have had. Lol passenger side half shaft leaking at the dif after 30 times at the track drifting and countless times hooning lol. But that's about it. compared to my g37 it is miles better in build quality and performance of individual parts.

My dealership is pretty good about respecting people's cars. Someone dropped off their hellaflush FR-S, and my techs spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out a safe way to put it on the lift.

Thanks, nice to know there are dealership service departments out there who give a damn. I'll definitely be taking my car in to you vs the dealer I bought it from.

67 Dart Wagon, yo!

Anybody that ever drove a base level 1960s-70s Dart will know exactly what I mean.
I had a '67 Dart station wagon. Someday ALL cars will have push-button automatic transmission!

I love my FRS. I would have rather bought a Cayman but.. I don't have the money, I need the back hatch, I don't have the money, and they have problems that puts "the window squeeks" in perspective.

To the OP... You have problems? Take it to the dealer!
That's one thing an S2000 does NOT have that the FRS does... a warranty.

Compared to my previous three cars:

90' Honda Accord
02' VW GTI
06' BMW M3

...this car is garbage. Frankly the current crop of Fords are better put together then this Toyobaru.

Now that said what it lacks in paint, materials, engineering, and build quality to more then makes up for in character. It's simply beautiful to look at feels perfect to drive. My favorite steering rack by far; with the turbo, brake upgrades and the stickers tires I'm very happy with it.

I love the 90s feeling this car gives me. When compared to the 90's mr2/240sx/2.5rs/miata/rx7 interiors that I am used to, this feels space age.

I think the interior is as good as any type low budget performance car. 03-07 wrx, and evo 8+9 interiors and build quality isn't all that great and most people love those cars.
You think the new Miata is going to have all the gizmo's and gadgets?

I think the fantastic sports car looks this car has makes people forget how cheap it really was.
