My first OEM set didn't even last 7 months, and I kept my car very clean. The windshield was always rain-x'ed as well. I made sure to wipe the dirt off of the wipers during every wash. I'm not even at 20k miles and my OEM replacements are starting to show wear.

I bought Bosch Icons and have not been impressed at all. They already streak after about 4 months of use. The OEMs lasted about 12 months for me.

Depends on the state of your windshield and how the wipers are used. Dirty glass makes a fine impression of sandpaper. As does dry glass. Regardless, some places are terrible on wipers (Texas weather destroys them in short order). Icons are the only thing I've found that last over a year here. |

I ended up getting Rain-X blades and a bottle of Rain-X spray. They work great. I am sure I had the Trico clipped on properly. I pulled on it and it wouldn't release, then again made sure it was clipped properly, pulled lighter, still secure. then it went flying off a few days later. I think they were just cheaply made.

28k miles and almost 2 years and still going strong on the stock blade. I plan to get new inserts at 30k.

Mine died at about 28k here in Minnesota. Trico Hybrids replaced it. They're working well so far, at 1k miles or so.

I Currently have Rain-X and mine are complete Garbage. I hate that spray, and if it rains hard enough, the wipers are repelled as much as the rain and just glide over top of it.
Ill probably go Trico next for the price and that they worked great on my BMW as an OEM blade. |

Ok so I called 2 dealerships and they both don't stock just the rubber insert refills. This seems odd. Anyone have a source to order online or something. I see on Amazon PIAA in 22" size but not the 20" size. How about calling a Subaru dealer?

Update: a Subaru dealership confirmed the existence of the insert-only refill. Although they didn't have the sizes for the brz in stock a next day order was placed. Easy peasy.
So if the Toyota dealership gives you no love hit up a Subaru parts dept. |

There's a bunch of P/N's for the 22 inch and 20 inch (550 mm & 500 mm respectively). Most of which are in the $6-7 range, almost half of Subaru's. Subaru has their own online P/N finder, so it's easy to get those. 86579CA000 86579CA050 But I'm having trouble with Toyota/Scion P/N's. I'm even finding some OEM Lexus wiper inserts cheaper than Subaru's. |
