Congrats on the brake discs. I know you were waiting on them for a while.
They have a greasy film on them that needs to be washed off before use.

That's even true for OEM rotors as well. They will smoke like crazy if you try to bed them in without washing them first. Ask me how I know

Was due time for new rear rotors as well. They were the originals that came on the car 2.5 years ago and have 13k HARD miles on them. Just beginning to delaminate!

New front AP rotors compared to the originals.

Multiple big cracks forming all the way through the inner face of this one (drivers side).

Finished up the pad swap, bleed, and attempted to bed last night on my run to get some E85.

The banking at AMS awaits tomorrow! It's going to rain.

First off, I love your car. I don't spend much time around the Journals area, but this one I pop in every once and a while!

Gushing aside, how much time do you spend bedding? I have the Sprint kit with XP10's and I tried to bed them in, but I ran out of time and ended up with some smearing. Thankfully I have some CL RC6's that should clean up the rotors before attempting again for my next track day.

It's not easy on public roads with the sprint kit because it's so damn thermally efficient! The Carbotechs felt too mushy to me since they have kevlar in them and they give more than the CL's, which are sintered and feel much more solid after bedding. I typically just bed them on track in my first session and hope for the best.

I'm looking forward to Cobalt getting their move to MI finalized and their equipment up and running in a few weeks. I've been wanting to try their XR2 pads for a while now. Apparently they are amazing on track and do not require any bedding at all while still wearing great and treating rotors nicely.

Had some fun on Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway running the roval with Just Track It.

My car ran great and grip improved greatly with the new aero after the track dried out quickly due to morning downpours. I was able to successfully perform the pedal dance for a couple sessions and didn't notice any difference in braking performance or wear but AMS isn't very hard on brakes.

I did experience fuel starvation a couple times on the banking when my fuel level dipped below 1/2 tank. Thankfully I had enough extra E85 to keep it above that level and avoid the issue.

Also had a great time getting beaten up all day riding in my student's RX7 race car.

Uploading some video soon.

It's funny that you mention fuel starvation. After all the reading I have done on these cars I just saw it mentioned that they have a tendency to have a hard time under a quarter tank with hard cornering yesterday, and today you post up about experiencing it. Do you have any plans or ideas to solve that issue?

I plan to simply keep the the tank as full as possible at AMS. That's the only track I've ever experienced starvation at and I've run it below 1/4 tank at the other 3 tracks I frequent with no issues. It only happened on the banking, nowhere else when I was driving and cornering hard.

Sprint efficient? Ridiculously. Carbotechs mushy? Yup, but it's all I have used so I'm used to it. Plus I do like the non-corrosive dust, which has been my hesitation with using the CL's. But, I am attracted to the minimal bedding vs Carbotech. Why must life be so hard?

Used up the very last of my Bridgestone RE-11A's and CL RC6 race pads in the best way possible today.

Utterly perfect track day!

Got some really good laps in that I'll share very soon.

Ahhh! I was so tempted to come to the Hooked on Driving event yesterday! But the group A was sold out and I'm a total novice. Deff plan on hitting ATL motorsports park this summer. I think there's another HOD event in June. I'm gonna do my best to make it. should have my Jackson racing supercharger installed by then. Hope to see you there. I'm in a 10 series FRS with gunmetal rays 57 extremes.

It's not that bad. It started as a rock chip in the lower corner and cracked overnight while the car was parked. It hasn't grown in 4 track days and nobody has said anything to me about it at the track. I'll be replacing it soon. Apparently our cars have the lightest legally allowable glass in production cars.
