I still need to update my build thread for this year, and upload some video, but here's a picture of my car with the TRD kit installed, mid corner, RE71's, 235/45/17 size from Sunday:

First event on TRD setup third event of the season, but the course wasn't really good enough to test the suspension, hairpin, flat, tight turn, flat, hair pin, flat slalom, tight, flat....etc etc. The horse power cars did well today, but I was 3rd on index out of 146 cars, .15 out of the lead. My camera was full.
First event of the year was top index by .15 on old Rivals, stock suspension 90ish cars.
Second event was stock suspension, tall RE71's, 1st on index by half a second 100ish cars.

No sure why this would even matter. For pros, you pretty much dump at 4k, for non pro tours its mute.

This. Finesse and feel with the clutch is not particularly relevant to autocross, unless you're actively looking to torture your clutch doing the slow-release-while-holding-at-6-grand launch method.

For the idea of leaving that change done for the street and just not wanting to bother with undoing it for an event, I don't really know if that's kosher. If the rulebook doesn't offer anything on the topic, then you're at least in a gray area, and shouldn't be necessarily surprised to find out that it isn't.

Take a few minutes and send a letter to the SEB. That (and a protest committee) are the only rulings that matter. crbscca.com

For the idea of needing/wanting it for the street - the vagueness did bother me at first, but, a month of driving (and none of those DIYs) is all it took to develop a feel for the clutch.

I have no idea how pissed off I would have to be to protest someone because they removed their clutch spring Maybe if the same person slept with my wife or clubbed a baby seal I might protest them.

I too question the legality of the clutch spring mod. However, one could argue that this could fall under the comfort and convenience allowances.

Accessories, gauges, indicators, lights and other appearance, comfort and convenience modifications which have no effect on performance and/or handling and do not materially reduce the weight of the car are permitted.

I would like to start attending track days in addition to autocross and added an oil cooler due to documented issues with overheating. I don't believe this adds any performance in the context of autocross. I submitted a letter to the SEB asking for an allowance of oil coolers in the street classes.

I'd like to know what your thoughts are regarding this mod for the street classes. Would you object to having it be allowed?

Lemme get this straight... You want to track your car and because you want to track your car, you want to modify the rules for AutoX?

I recall this was proposed or discussed, I think it was turned down.

In any case, allowing oil coolers in street class is a slippery slope. While it may not benefit an 86s at an autocross, some cars with conservative ECUs that pull timing based on coolant/oil temps would actually receive performance benefits from having aftermarket coolers.

For those cars/classes, an oil cooler would be required to be on the same playing field as other competitors.

I've thought about this as well. The way I figure it, if I can handle the added expense and wear from track abuse, I may as well make the jump to STX where those mods are legal.

Not too long ago (two years ago?) oil coolers were allowed for Street Prepared and up. It's now legal for Street Touring, but I don't see it being allowed for Street. Oil coolers don't seem to fit the idea of what Street is supposed to be.
