Intake inlet was a B to get off while wiggling the assembly out but I got it. The supercharger pulley was no problem with heat but the second bolt on the crank pulley turned and stripped as feared. Luckily a T30 torx bit provided enough bite to break them all free. I think I'm going to use the new KW pulley wrench to install a new crank pulley bolt while I'm at it. I had a little wobble and I'm going to see if that fixes it.

@KraftWerks this pinch looks horrific. I'm thinking of removing the kit now because this bothers me a lot. There should be no reason for any product to have this kind of fitment from the get go. I have a Series 10 car that has the factory HID headlights, the same found in Monogram and all the GT86 found around the world. If there isn't a solution to this, then I guess I have no choice but to get rid of this kit. This is the C38 kit with the 2.5" hose. The headlights on the Monogram/Series 10 has extended section behind the headlight that interferes with the hose that you guys designed to pass behind the driver headlight.
I have fear that when the system is under pressure, the hose will expand and vibrate during operation and possibly start to rub into pieces. |

Have you tried swaping the hose around? I run a open bypass valve, so I swap the hose around, it seems to fit better on the BRZ and on my car.. Also the 10series I just installed.. No issues when I just swap the hose 180* |

BRZ doesn't have the LED module built in the headlight design like the GT86 headlights. At the time of KW development, only the Series 10 had the GT86 headlights. Now you can get them on Monogram. This issue was overlooked during development because there wasn't a test dummy to fit this on a GT86 headlight equipped car.

We already rotated it 3 times to make sure both ends were attempted. The same results was yield at the headlight area. Believe me, the GT86 headlights are way bigger than the BRZ because of the LED module that sits behind the headlight. It's molded into the headlight housing so it's not a piece that can removed. If we dremel that corner then the headlights will not be sealed anymore. BTW no kit should be designed to "rub to an extent" during operations. If this hose was a point of contact in the design, I would of designed a solid pipe in it's place so it wouldn't expand under boost and hit the headlights.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ts#post1841644 Indeed this issue only will affect probably 10% of the FRS owners which would not be enough to warren a fix since you know how many Monogram, Series 10, and people with JDM GT86 headlight conversions on their base FRS guys want to put a KW supercharger for their car. Certainly I haven't seen anyone specifically wrote about it publicly till now I'm guessing. Does that make me the first test dummy for this specific combination? You do have some good points about no one have rubbed a hole out on the silicone hose yet for the charge pipe section. But man I'm so anal on this and knowing the fact that I'll be driving the car with that piece "Pinched" rather than just lightly sitting on the headlight just kills me. That will never leave my mind. Would you want to drive around with a turbo kit or a supercharger kit with a built in pinch design in the routing? |
