The question is, How long did you stare at it for?? Anything less than 5 minutes is a complete failure.

I'm in love with my soon to be BRZ enough, that it'll likely be like it was the first day/night I had my S14. I ended up sleeping in it....i didn't want to get out..

More thoughts about the automatic.

- I cannot perceive any shift lag when aggressively pushing the pedal. I could definitely feel it on my slush box in the 08 impreza.

- I am at 2k rpm when cruising 60-70 mph. around 1.5k during 30mph driving in city streets

- It really likes to stay on the low rpm so the car shifts up and down a lot especially with inclined roads.

- I still dreaming of shifting with manual, especially with how aggressive the car feels

- People think it's a manual when first looking at the car hehe~

- Only 1 person has busted my chops for going with AT out of probably 5 car enthusiasts who looked at it

- I still need to try out sport mode, probably won't engage it til after I break in the car. I have around 650 miles to go

1:5 Chop Busting Ratio..not bad..lol

As much as i love Subaru, the Auto's (non brz) are a little slow to react, unintuitive and usually lack a gear or two. I haven't driven the BRZ auto yet, but it has to be worlds better. I would dare say it likely to be as good as conventional autos get.

Good to hear that their is no lag, as I ordered the 6AT also.

This pretty much matches my experience so far with my 6T FR-S, although mechaghost is leading me in the mileage count.

No chops busted yet for me, although when someone says "it's an automatic?" I say "yea, you got a point!"

As someone who has worked for a very good retrofitter and has a nice quad setup, there is one thing I can say.

Nothing beats OEM.

I agree. I think that you can spend 1k on a good retrofit job, and it still would not touch oem in terms of quality. Long term issues with leaking, fogging, and light alignment would drive me crazy.

If I had oem HID, the only light mod I might consider is a higher watt HID ballast. Ive always been curious about how those performed when paired with a perfect beam pattern.

more observations today

- tried out sports mode. The car cruises at 2.5k rpm and there is a big difference from the normal mode

- I scratched the bottom of the front lip already that thing is so low that you won't clear the parking bars and curbs. So be careful about that.

This is true! I'm super happy with the setup I put together, but it's definitely far from OEM with regards to aesthetics.

Can you elaborate a little more on the differences?

Sucks about the front lip

Gas pedal feels more responsive in sport, and holds gears longer. Normal mode tries to gear as high as possible making the car a little bit groggy when you press teh pedal more aggresively

Sounds like if I had ordered the AT I'd be in automatic "sports mode" when I sat down!

That's funny, my saying is, "Nothing fits like OEM." The words may be slightly different, but sentiment is the same. That phrase is one of the reasons I bought the TL following my ownership with the WRX. I wanted a car I knew I wouldn't touch, just something I can get in and enjoy. The BRZ, OTOH, my old (read: bad) habits may resurface. Today I found myself looking at RPF1s, on tirerack.com, I have been weighing options to replace the factory foglights with yellow bulbs, and have been looking into getting a rear fog bulb. That's how it starts, and I don't even have the freaking car yet!

I was able to keep the mod beast at bay, but I guess he got the scent of BRZ in the water...

It's been confirmed by a few members here. Yes, they are rolled from factory.

Front fenders are, the rears are not. At least on every car I've seen so far although I did not check the FR-S I sat in yesterday.
