Garage opener for Canadian BRZ

Does Canadian model BRZ has built-in garage door opener in the rear view mirror? Is that an option?

It's an option. It doesn't come automatically with. It's called HomeLink.

Dealer didn't offer that option. Is that aftermarket? Because they only let me choose BRZ or Sport-Tech, 6MT or 6AT

I'm actually not sure. I didn't get the option either. I thought it was maybe a port installed option.

I was not considering it but we're maybe going to be moving so I'm wondering if I should get it added or just wait and get it done later.

It'll be an accessory through your subaru parts counter. They're a little pricey for what they are. I'm too lazy to find CDN costs, but they're $281 US. I've just bought a small universal one from a Hardware store for $30 and left it at that. If i get the BRZ, i'll likely integrate it into the Left side panel and make it look like a blank button.

If you REALLY want the OEM HOMELINK, you can wait till Subarugenuineparts.com has it..it'll probably be under $200 us. Their prices are usually pretty damn good.

Thanks you guys for all your update

And I am thinking, interior mirror is stand alone. Can I just get the Impreza one from subarugenuieparts.com and 'glue' it on the windshield instead? ha ha

i was thinking of just getting the HomeLink buttons from eBay for $25 and put one in near the microphone on the ceiling. similar to this:

if it doesn't fit, it'll go somewhere under the driver-side dash.

Cool... Does it need to run the wire for the power?

yeah. although i haven't installed one before but i have the homelink feature in my IS300 and it's a definite must have for any of my next cars. afaik, the wiring is easy, just connect to power and ground. imo, $260 + tax is definitely not worth getting the rear-view mirror option from the dealer when you can DIY.
