Did you post this in the Southeast regional subforum? If any region can pull it off outside of CA you guys should be able to (and maybe Texas too)...it seems that there are an ass-ton of twins in Florida

@Lonewolf yes I did, and in various FB groups. And while I thought the same thing about the amount of twins in FL, a large portion of them just seem interested in the community aspect more than the sport.

Haha, exactly! I haven't been showing up at meets forever and honestly don't like to show up at the ones I know are filled with people that like to make noise.

Don't stray too far from the intent of this thread/post. And certainly you can turn some of the community into track-goers even if it's for a free ride, support/camaraderie, or just showing them how mods do perform. Don't discourage anybody but rather invite everyone. It'll filter on it's own

Its an intimidating proposition for most people, even car nuts who have never experienced a HPDE. Concerns range from wrecking or breaking the car to being embarrassed while learning to drive on a race track. If people only knew how much fun they would have and how great the social scene actually is, then I think many more would give it a try.

It may be hard to find enough solo level drivers to field the events without possibly starting with a couple instructed events to build the bench.

We have a few instructors already interested and we're exploring having an academy portion to it. As far as safety goes, we do plan to keep passing rules to point-bys only since we'll have plenty of time to get laps without traffic due to the low number of participants, but we do need at least 15 to break even on track fees. The first few events will be the most difficult to put together, but then as we build some funds to purchase the timing equipment rather than renting it, and possibly score deals with sponsors and other tracks, we hope to grow it into something more resembling a driver development and competition series combined. And concerning embarrassment at the track, I don't buy it. I've never seen an instance of shaming at the track because someone was too slow. Usually others do their best to help them be faster/safer.

Trust me, I know. I've gotten some of the folks over at the car meets to come to the track and they ALL love it. Or at least they say they do, but then they go back to posting on Facebook about how their cheap turbo kit caused issues.
