AIM helps, but only helps if everyone runs it. $399 each isn't cheap but can be amortized over a period of 1-2 years if everyone pitches in.

Have upwards of 20 units for rent at around $10-15 each event. All the units are sold to the entity (86 Cup), and using standard accounting practices you write it off over the course of 2 years or so.

After a year it will practically pay for itself, and we would be independent of event host timing issues.

But it's also a lot more manual work to go around collecting times... that is always a pain.

Yes but you also have to consider the logistics of collecting times from every driver after every session.

It also would require us to have some type of computer or scorekeeping sheet at the track, not exactly the easiest to both attend events and drive at the same time.

Using event host transponders and timing is easy because they usually have staff dedicated to this. To do it on our own is easily done with 5 cars, but once you have 10/15/20+ cars the amount of work needed is suddenly a lot more.

Hey, that boxster spyder was me! Thanks! Amazing how boxsters seem to punch above their weight, eh? Stock power, 320hp at the crank. I had a feeling your car had FI when I could still see you in my rear view mirror for quite some time (it was either that or my passengers were way too big, LOL). Nice driving. You've improved a lot!

Side note: my car got a car wash from the red Mustang.

His fuel tank or fuel cell was spilling gas every time it made a hard right hander... it's all on video, too.

Ya u r absolutely right!! Theres pros and cons. As a back up system for transponders, AIM Solo would be the way to go.
