Has anyone thought about having the hubs redrilled? Ive never personally done it, but Ive seen it on a few forums in the past when people went from 4 lug to 5 lug (when no other option was available). I doubt its something Id do, but it might be another option.

I do not need any hub swap/conversion. Volk TE37SL are available in ZX6 fitment.

Maybe this car will push some of the wheel manufacturers to start up production of some wider 5x100 wheels. No?

^ Yup. Wheel selection will NOT be an issue within 6 months.

I've thought about this as well.... stay stock or change it up.... I guess it all depends on how long they will last, if they fail, I'll swap them out ASAP. If not then no worries.

I wouldn't worry about them "failing".....i think a lot of this is overthinking and worrying about something that just won't be a problem. Just my opinion!

Is this what the hub looks like on a BRZ/FR-S?

How hard would it be to get someone to tool a hub/bearing assembly like it in 5x114.3? Couldn't the spindle just be replaced? Someone needs to pull one apart and get the measurements, already!

Bump!

A few weeks have passed now.. I know some parts manufacturers have BRZ's and FRS's.. Anyone hear anything new about the hubs?

Interchangable with other Subie cars?
Easy to redrill to 5x114.3?
replacable with generic parts from Timkin as mentioned above?

Again, my reasoning for the hub swap is that I already have an awesome set of 5x114.3 wheels. I'm sure there are other options out there, and certainly will be in coming months.. but that would require me to go out and spend $1k plus on new wheels.. I want to use my Gram Lights that are already in my garage. I'd rather not use spacer/adaptors because I'm already worried that they are too wide to fit.. another 1" would certainly hurt my chances!

So.. BUMP... any new ideas and insights??

Thanks!

If someone makes a hub conversion for the WRX then I'd guess it would work on the BRZ. There are far more WRXes out there so I'm guessing if no one saw the profit in doing so for the WRX it's not all that likely someone will spend the money to make it for the BRZ. Maybe the two combined will provide enough benefit for a company to engineer it. The bad thing is you'd always have to use that companies conversion kit for new bearings, so if they price it as a conversion and not a replacement part that could get expensive...

There was a mass produced kit once, but I haven't seen them around in YEARS. Currently, I think TurnInConcepts can make them for you, but you'd have to call them. I'm not sure if they still do it or what exactly was involved, but I don't think anything solid can come of this until they can compare the STI knuckle/hub to what's used on the BRZ.

I was flipping though the option mag and spotted this.
Not sure if its a bolt on kit or a whole replacement unit but I think its swapped from the GRB?

according to the text in that article, GRB impressa hubs are bolt on in the back. however, they haven't been able to find front hubs in 114.3 that bolt on. so that car literally has 5x100 in the front and 5x114.3 in the back.

You sure the offsets will really make it worthwhile? Check out http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7283
Those wheels fit about the same way that a 9.5 +15 fits on a 240sx. I was thinking about going 5x114.3 so I could just buy one pair of trackday wheels to share between the BRZ and 240, but it doesn't look like the offsets are that compatible.
