Clutch for F/I car.
Hey guys. I am thinking about upgrading my kraftwerks supercharger. I am now running the stock clutch with the base kit. I wanted to get the 13psi pulley wich should bring me to +/- 300whp. Right now I have 220 lbs/ft of torque and should be close to 250 once upgrade.
I have search along the forum and people seems to experience a lot of issue with aftermarket clutches. I wanted to have your advice on that. What clutch should I use? Can the stock clutch handle the torque that will be added? I do not track the car and use it mostly to ride on nice days. Thanks for your advise ! |

youll find about 40 threads on this already; not sure why you needed to add to that. Exedy stage 2/ CM FX300-400/ACT. Go with one of those.

I found the 40 thread you are talking about. I did not found any clear answer about clutch that should be use or not. A lot of "oh i'm having issue with the clutch" but none of the thread was actually telling the real issue.
Thanks for your advice thoo. I heard good stuff about Bully clutch too what do you guys think about those ? |

I would suggest against the Exedy Stg 2 at the moment until they can figure out what's wrong with it. There's a thread of about 10 of us right now all experiencing issues. I hope people stop throwing that suggest out there until this is resolved. We don't need to grow that list.

The clutch is locking people out of gears. For myself at first it was stiff, then it would take a couple tries to get into gear, now I can't get it into gear from a stop without turning the car off. I won't get into my saga here, but it has been out of the car a couple times and has been thoroughly troubleshooted.

I'm still on OEM clutch with ~250wtq
It is holding up well after about 15k miles with this torque level.

I believe the stg1 is fine. At this point I'm feeling like that's the one I should have purchased.
Cal3000, I'm jealous of your hulk stock clutch. After removing my stock clutch, it actually looked fine. It wasn't burnt or abnormally worn. It looks like the pressure plate just didn't have enough clamping force. I don't imagine I was making more power than you are. |
