500+hp also doesn't bother me but 500hp out of a growling LS motor and and a boosted 4 cylinder motor are two very different things.. because of the humongous TQ difference, Corvettes are not forgiving like the supercharged S2000 (almost similar power) or modified Evos

Dry sump system on the LS7 and LS3 motors are very good actually and I didn't hear any major issues other than the valve dropping on the LS7
(very few instances) .. My friend's Z06 with Z07 package came with Cup Tires from factory and many people run Hoosiers at the local tracks with no problem .. are you sure those are the LS7s? because LS6 and LS2-LS3 (base and Z51) didn't come with dry sumps and I heard some oil starvation on them but not the LS7s
Would you call A Mustang a momentum car? Or a Dodge Challenger? :p

Yes, the LS7's sump is not enough. It's the common denominator among the locals here. Keep in mind that our local tracks have some banked turns, and this is where they all blow. The same goes for the ZR1 and CTS-V, to a lesser degree. It's just accepted that a LSx won't hold for more than a season.

That turbo s2000 graph you posted has a terrible powerband...

IMO when people compare the Miata and 86 asking about which is faster, the observation of which they see on the track more is largely irrelevant. The Miata is a platform that has been out for nearly 25 years. The 86 for 2 years. That's a 23 year head start for market penetration and aftermarket support. That's also potentially 20+ years worth of depreciation on chassis people would be more comfortable chucking into a wall or flipping at a track. Most would be less comfortable doing the same with a new car they are still making relatively large payments on.

So yes, the Miata is a more seasoned and cheaper platform overall to track, but let's not mistake any of this to mean it's a faster platform on the track. By the same logic, I see far more Civics and CRXs on the track than GTRs. Is that supposed to tell which is faster?

Well Challenger might be an exception but you know what I am trying to say..

I am really surprised with the failures at your local tracks maybe they're not that active on the forums ..

and yes S2000 has a terrible powerband but still that are under the TQ curve (Corvette graph ) still light years ahead of the game ..if you can actually put that power on the ground of course

These are skills that you most likely will not learn in a vette.

Single favorite post on this site. It puts all that "slow" talk into perspective lol.

check out these videos, driver Bob Bundy is an active member on Miata forums ..the guy is wicked fast

I was in the same group with these guys and I was the second slowest guy I think haha ..he's about 13secs faster than me on the same day and conditions

and about 11 seconds faster in this track (not same day though)
and this is his blog

@CSG Mike , do you know this S2K owner from the other board?
I probably know him by forum handle... his car is designed to be very easy to drive from what I can tell; consistency is important when racing. I dont think he posts much though; I don't know of any Rotrex S2ks running TT on the board.

Bob Bundy... that's a name I recognise. He's fast. Not Emilio fast, but still fast.

very goo observations

I have to say something about the aftermarket support though ..one of the main reasons I switched from a Miata to a BRZ is the aftermarket support ..I was initially thinking the same thing before I purchased my Miata since I've been seeing many Miata owners at track days, I figured the aftermarket support should be huge but it was only limited to NA and NB body styles.. NC is very limited unlike the BRZ/FRS community..

yes the platform has been only out there for like couple years it definitely surpassed the many other platforms.. maybe the fastest growing .. withouth the support and the contributions of the couple vendors Flying Miata or Good Win Racing Miata aftermarket would be almost dead I think..

They still blow through them...

997 Cup cars, Vettes, Ferraris, AWD (Evo, GTR, STI), and all the other high powered cars always ignore everything...
