Picked up an Anarchy Motive shift knob and unfortunately the color was way off so it's on its way back for a recoat. I went for Transparent Copper and it came out brown with a little sparkle. His powder coater has a new powder for that color so we'll try again.
Now to order some Mtec springs. That knob is super heavy, I feel the stock springs aren't up to the task.

Just had to replace one of my LED turn signal bulbs. Luckily (sort of) they are way dimmer than I would have liked, so I was never able to use the two in the rear. With the red vinyl overlays, the amber wouldn't shine through so I kept those two aside.
Not sure why I already had a failure, they're only like a year and a half old. Next set will be from @Diode Dynamics, but this bought me some time at least.

Tomorrow I'm taking the day off for my birfday. I think I'll stop by @Infamous Performance again and pick up some Whiteline diff cradle/outrigger bushings. Maybe some StopTech street pads. I've gotta check my pads, but I'm kind of shocked that I haven't heard a squeak in over 50k miles now. I had to replace the fronts in my STi not long before trading it in, which was around 28k. Damn.
I'm also planning to cruise over to Discount Tire and see about some 245/40 Continentals. I love the Super Sports (225/45), but I'd like to see how long I can make the DWs last. They seem like a great bang for the buck.

You'll probably see better gas mileage on the Conti's too.

I think they're about 1-2 lighter, correct? I've been wanting Conti tires all year, but I got stock STI tires for $50 that have been surviving my relentless attacks all summer. Soon summer will be over, in which case I'll be tossing these and getting winter tires. THEN I'll get Conti tires for next summer.
My stock pads aren't doing terrible after 42k miles either! On my 2005 STI I had to swap them out around 38k miles, maybe sooner. |

Well, I just checked on Tirerack and they're the same.
A 225/45 Michelin PSS and a 245/40 Conti DW are each 22 lbs. I'm also looking at wheels, but that'll be down the road a ways. I really want another set of 17x9 in a better offset (my +28s are on the Mustang now with spacers). I really like the 720Form GTF1 (+35) and the Rota Titan (+42). Close to the same price, both pretty light. But the Rota has color choices and the 720Form wheels are just black. I'm also thinking I'd need a spacer on the Rota to clear the spring perch in front. It's damn close now with camber bolts.

Got my Whiteline inserts, but the pads were not in stock at the store, so they were shipped to my house. Got the fronts yesterday. The rears are making their way from PA...guess I won't be doing that this weekend. But big thanks to @Infamous Performance, those guys are great to deal with!
Also got my tires ordered so I can get them swapped tomorrow. Very excite!

Yeah, I'm a nerd. She was a tiny little gal who did big things, and was much more than she seemed. It's also the reason I wanted that shift knob that Ivan got. Looks like amber, which is a recurring color with that character. Still waiting for my knob to get back after the recoat, but if I like the way it turns out, I want to match a few other things. We'll see.

That's amazing! I kind of want to finally make my build thread now just to explain my car too, although it's nowhere as cool as your reasoning.
Can't wait to see the more recent updates! |

I got the Whiteline inserts installed on the 9th but haven't really pushed the car that hard since. It does feel like some of the rearend slop is reduced, and I do notice a VERY SLIGHT whine at low speeds. At first, I thought a brake pad was dragging, then I realized it was probably the inserts. Not at all an issue for me, though.
The new tires went on last Saturday and they are just OK right now. I felt like they were over-inflated but haven't had a chance to check it out until this morning. Turns out they are WAY over-inflated! As in, I think my pen gauge is jacked up, as it gets pegged right away. I'll be fixing that tonight and am looking forward to feeling the difference. I mean, right now I'm not sliding all over the road, but I don't have confidence-inspiring grip I was expecting.

Ok, my gauge is a flaming pile of poo. I let some air out and it was too much...so I went to the local petrol station and used the fancy air pump to get back up to 35psi. Feels a little better now, so they probably were a bit high to begin with.
I'm hoping it'll feel even better once I wear the tread down a bit.
